Is there a market for low-cost mac games?
Hi!
I was reading a gaming special edition of a German mac magazine, and when I saw the screenshots of some widget games, I remembered 2 game ideas I wanted to implement on a mobilke phone some time ago.
Now I'm considering writing a small game running in windowed mode, in a 320x240-ish resolution.
So, the game would be a small download and also take only a small part of the screen space. And I was aiming for a low price tag, say $9.99 or maybe $7.77.
I'm just wondering if there's a market for small games? And what about portals? How important is the 19.99 price tag for them?

There's definitely a market for good mac games.
Personally I think that targeting the low-cost market is shooting yourself in the foot though. There are plenty of small games around that are free, so it may be hard to get people to pay for them.

Not to mention that the number of Widgets available for the Mac is truly staggering, and they are mostly free, so the market's expectation will not be to pay for a widget game. (I realize that may not be exactly what you were planning, but still, I agree with Dustin that a low price point is dangerous territory).
