Hi, I am having sort of web-crisis here. My main (best) webhost will close down sudenly (and my websites don't work for 3 days now:mad: )... I also have webhosting at dreamhost account and another one in some slovenian company.

Now my problem is this
- dreamhost is so slow and I feel that is unreliable that that I don't want to use it for bravekidgames.com or any other important site
- that slovenian webhost is good and fast - but I am concerned that because it is in slovenia - website will work slower for people from US and other foreign countries which are my main target audience

If you are from any foreign country can you test these pages and tell me how they are loading for you.

- http://www.itmmetelko.com/webdemos/bushes/play.php?turnId=163
(uh I was trying to find something more heavy to test by... but everything I make is so sparse)

//btw... if any of you are using dreamhost and are happy with it tell it also (I havent really used it... so I am not 100% sure it is slow either)

best regards,
Janko M.

They're reasonably responsive actually. The last one took about 8-10 seconds to finish, but the first two were done in about 2 seconds. DSL in Ontario, Canada.

I'm on the west coast of Canada. It came up about the same speed as the Rusty Axe site did - I use DreamHost for Rusty Axe. They will move your site to another server if you request it.

PoV: aha.. from your description and comparison to my loading I am guesing that it works a little slower over there, but not that much.

lakibuk: yes yes you are really around the corner... I could be knocking on your door in less than 2 hours... we should go on some austrian beer some day :)

lennard: hmm... your site opens really fast for me... you say you are on dreamhost... are you having any downtimes ? (I have nothing against dreamhost, I like their funny newsletters a lot and they also optimized one of my huge database tables and explained me the thing because it was eating a lot of resources.)

Thanks PoV, lakibuk and lennard!

well, I don't want to scare you about dreamhost as I have no really concrete experience behind. I bought dreahmost services half of year back because I needed something for one portal that was too big (>3GB) for my otherwise main webhosting package. Later I had noticed some days where site was working really slow and I thougth to myself - " good think I don't have any of important websites there" .... but I will reconsider this option (as these past months I had experienced many problems on this better and much expesiver host too and it wasn't the end of world) - how long are you there yet?

my (wip) website on dreamhost is this... http://klik-klik.net/otroski.net/ - it works really fast right now too.

I tested and read about dreamhost some more and decided to go with them. After reading more I must say I like (for now) their way of working, their big wiki with support answers, svn (which is cruicial for me last 4 months...)... and after I put BKG on their site(few days) the speed seems very nice.

Thanks for answers,
Janko

//edit:I also have my new website there
