I'm not clicking on that without knowing what it is. :)

A small clip from a movie showing some guy typing C code in a weird GUI :-)

This topic isn't particularly indie-related, is it? (I've not watched the movie however)

I can never watch avi's anyway. :(
Will looking at this get us put on a CIA watch list? ;)

It's just a video from a movie, i don't know the name, with some "cracker" that intrudes into the CIA computers.
I just found it hilarious that they used some random C code that scrolls fast in a 50x4 or something like that terminal... like he was typing all that code.

Quite funny.
Which movie is this taken from? (Looks like from a movie).
Remember a similar scene where C64 BASIC code was shown.

I'm pretty sure that in Independence Day, they took down the alien invasion by implanting a virus written in C into the aliens' computer system.
Classic.

Makes some kind of sense... the first program Colin writes reads a password char by char. The next screen doesn't make a lot of sense, some variables are compared and then he prints "ACCESS GRANTED". Then there's some code vaguely similar to a directory search by filename, which he does... bad, but I've seen far worse.

Yea, it was Independence Day and they used a Mac, which makes sense, because Macs are sorta alien. ;)

Invader Zim made fun of the idea when Dib tried to hack into the Irken computer systems and says "I hope the Irkens just happen to use the same operating system I have."
The classic for me is the movie "Hackers". They go for one of those "visual" systems where the computer operator travels through virtual space. It would take something like 20 minutes to open a text file on that system because of all the flying and visual fx you'd have to sit through.
Hmmm...that does sound awfully close to the direction the new Windows is heading. I must have missed the meeting where computer users demanded a 3D interface and giant chunky icons for every file.

Perhaps a bit more exciting on the big screen than watching someone fumble around with a mouse though.
But still rubbish!

Well, a 3D user interface would be nice (and possibly, more intuitive), but there is a big problem: to use a 3D interface, you need a 3D positioning device. Mice are 2D (or 2.5D, if you count the roller as a method to go "far/near" :-P).

Someone from Spain also said that they have used a *universal* serial bus to connect to the alien computer.
