I've heard that before, although last time it was 3 seconds. For general surfing I find that to be pretty accurate, but there are plenty of exceptions. If a site has specific information that is hard to find elsewhere, I'll leave it to load no matter the time. If a site is selling a game cheaper than all other websites, I'll again be more patient with load time.

The problem with "asked" surveys is that peoples concepts of time varies. They may think they wait at most 3-4 seconds when in reality they will sit for 10+ seconds waiting for a page to load. Or, they may just be saying that because they want people to make their sites load faster even if they would sit and wait it out. Along the lines of "would you buy more games if the price was $10 rather than $20" I bet if you asked that you'd get a lot of people saying yes, just because they want to see game prices fall, even if it may not be true.

If you mean the buynow page, is because is HTTPS so I think is normal... what I find crazy, in the affiliate panel, is displaying the latest sales on BOTTOM of page.
So if you have lot of affiliate products like in my case, takes even 10minutes (seriously) to load them all (including images) just to check the latest sales (5 TEXT lines on bottom)... :rolleyes:

I'm sure Akamai, who sell high speed web/ file hosting for big budget companies, don't have any interest in research that says websites should be faster.

Of course it's pretty obvious that the slower your site the quicker people leave, but I do think 4 seconds is pushing it a bit much. Maybe if nothing shows up at all, but generally you get at least the header and start of the content displaying.

I agree that Plimus could do with investing in some Akamai servers though :)
