Bought a Yamaha keyboard, fun to mess around with. Has tons of sound effects on it. If you are creating a game that needs just basic sound, this thing might be an option. It was $130 at Costco here in the US. I dumped a few sounds to a file - http://users.rcn.com/windsurf/testSounds.wav

Is it also possible to compose Midi sounds/songs out of it?

Sweet, new toys rock. :D

Another good one is the Oxygen8 keyboard. It is little but only has 1 octive of notes (8 white, 5 black) Even fits on a cluttered desktop easily.
