Check this thing out:

Lots of indie developers are targeting whole systems that are less powerful than this graphics card.

This is what I've been waiting for :). I almost want to go out and buy one, but I think I can hold out a few more months until the official launch of Vista and also to see how it compares to ATI's part.

After I get one of these I'm starting work on the first indie game that will require DX10 hardware. Won't bother submitting it to Game tunnel for another 15-20 years.

The issue has already been fixed, and I believe most retailers are already stocked with the fixed boards.

Wow, that was fast... I just read about the recall two days ago.

Yeah, my understanding was that it was just a dumb mistake that was easy to fix. I spoke to a few different NV people about it and no one seemed worried.

The thing that impresses me, is a single GTX card besting duel-card (SLI/Crossfire) setups at many benchmarks!

dunno about you guys, but where i live, power is expensive. ITs freaking unbelievable that a computer needs half a kilowatt to run a game in 3d wherse cpu power consumptions is no more than 30-50watt.

I want my PC to be as silent as possible so I've bought the low-end version of nearly every graphics card generation and they're usually much less power hungry, generate less heat and therefore come without a fan.

I'm sure this generation won't be an exception, just wait for the full product line; the features will be the same, only with lesser graphics power and lesser power consumption.

Let away that failing fans have always been the cause of the death of my expensive gfx cards so far. No, I cannot really live with the thought to open the case every other month to clean the accumulated dust or even change the fan. I am a programmer, not a mechanic (but I do love to open my motorbike engine more often than that ;P ). Yes, I've got a lot of HDs and stuff which need lotsa air circulating inside the case. I've added filters lately, yet I think that they could have put damn overtemperature sensors in those gfx board chips. It costed me much every time it happened (the fans slow down or block, and the chip fries. Happened expecially with 3DFX (including the latest model I bought, Voodoo5 5500), but also with ATI.. never had problems with NVidia, which I've fully converted myself to for other reasons, lately).

Yep, they always launch with the "high end" versions first.

I also like to wait for the mainstream parts. Both the 6600 and 7600 were incredible bang/buck deals; full featured and good performance at sub-$150 prices.

I'm nearing a point where I need to build a new machine, and I'm 90% sure that an 8600 will be filling the GPU slot when it comes out :)
