Hello friends,

I've just finished our latest game project Wild West Billy. However, this title is now in the beta testing process, so I would really appreciate it if you could spare some time playing this new game, then let us know how you think about it.

Wild West Billy is a new variation of the popular hangman game, and we added many features and retouches to the game to meet current's audience's demand.

You can download the game installer here (12MB):
http://e-funsoft.fileburst.com/wildwestbilly-beta.exe
IMPORTANT: As the beta period has expired for the installer above, you can download the EXE update here:
http://e-funsoft.fileburst.com/wwb-exe.zip (400 KB)

Just run the installer as usual, then extract the EXE update in the program's main folder - overwriting the existing WWB.EXE file.
Default path: C:\Program Files\Wild West Billy\
The new EXE will run until end of November 2006.

The screenshots:

The Testing Points are:
- Performance, stability, playability, what game modes you like and why, and feel free to let me know your personal opinion - anything!

Thanks so much and I'll be waiting for your feedback..! ;)

I just got done playing this with my wife. We had alot of fun playing this!

Love the choice of keyboard or mouse. the topics were stable and enjoyable on all counts.

Waiting for 2 weeks for your game, if it comes out on the 11th as sched, it will make a nice birthday present to myself.

are you planning on having new downloadable topic packs on this game?

even a website to download a few extra dat files would be a nice touch.

good luck with this!

Have sent you the feedback via your online form.
Hope you have received it.
EDIT: Forgot: It's "We are the championS" not "We are the champion" (70s songs).

Do not know if you care about non us customers but the installer wants to install to C:\Program Files by default. It does not use the system default (which is c:\Programme on German systems).

found SEVERAL spelling flaws in the game, only wrote down 1 of them.

you spelled "HITCHCOCK" like this "HITCHKOCK"

as well as said in above post there is issues with things that have extra "S's" making them plural when they should not be and vice versa.

the end part of the game where you have to guess the phrase is 2 hard, there should be a way to continue to get more hints, you get 3 tries and if you simply did not know the phrase and typed in "zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz" the game freezes.

and you have to go back to the menu and continue.

should be a way to buy a letter somehow, maybe from your "earnings" throught the lower levels, or maybe you get gold coins or something for completing the lower levels with so many bullets to spare, and you can use these coins to buy letters in the phrase round?

would make the game much more enjoyable.

now the main problem I have with only 1 computer in the house: how do I get my wife to stop playing the game, so I can use the computer???

she is obsessed with the game, and as well obsessed with spelling and grammatical errors as well.

Thank you Kaos for your time testing WWB and sending me your feedback.. :) I have kept your suggestions and hope we can apply them to the game soon. Especially regarding downloadble additional topics - it's really a good idea. Related to spelling errors, actually our word list maker has checked everything 3 times, but there are still some errors I guess, thanks for bringing this issue to my attention before we release the game. I'll ask our list editor to check them thoroughly once again.

Then about buying hints/weapons using the gold coin, I'm thinking about adding a "Buy Item" button on the panel, then a small pop-up window will appear inside the game. Player can then select any items he/she wants to buy using his/her acquired gold coins. Is this what you meant?

Well, it's really nice to know that your wife likes playing our game - and I hope it doesn't disturb your job.. ;) I hope everything can be completed on Nov 10, then we can send you the full version as your birthday gift. But if not, I'll send Fruit Lockers first. Thanks again!

To lakibuk:
Thanks for your feedback and also the spelling error information, I've fixed this.

To roussec:
Well, I didn't know that different countries use different "Program Files" folder names. Thanks for informing me, and I will try to change the setting to install to system default.

Thanks again Kaos for your new information.. Well, I didn't realize that there are quite many spelling flaws in the game. I'll ask our list editor to check everything from the beginning..

Unfortunately it completely blows up on my Windows Vista RC1 (build 5600) machine. :(

When I try to launch the executable, I get an error message box telling me that it "Failed to Access the Registry"

Thanks wazoo, I'll take a loot at the registry accessing system to make it compatible with Vista.. I'll inform you soon.

Hi wazoo, please do not uninstall the game, but replace/overwrite the existing WWB.EXE in the program's folder:
C:\Program Files\Wild West Billy

with the new one below:
http://e-funsoft.fileburst.com/wwb-exe-vista.zip (400KB)

The problem occored as a result of attempt to access the registry. This happened because of the difference between Vista and older Windows OS's registry structure.

I would appreciate it if you could let me know if the update works well.

Thanks a lot wazoo!

Thanks for everyone who has spared your time testing and playing our game Wild West Billy, and thanks also for your useful feedbacks..!

I want to inform you guys, that the beta testing period for Wild West Billy is extended until the end of November 2006, so I would appreciate it if other developers who have not tried the game could spare some time testing WWB, and let me know your opinions..

For complete info:

Thanks a lot..! ;)

I think you need to change the name. I read yours and the first thing I think is "Oh look, yet another rip of someone elses hard work". (In this case "Wild West Wendy".)

It's clearly nothing like WWW, so my advice is don't give people a chance to assume it is and dismiss it as yet another clone.

Well, we picked the name Wild West Billy because the previous version of the game's title was Hangman The Wild West II: Billy's Adventure.. However, we got the same opinion as yours from some other people (and developers in this forum), so I think I should really consider the title again..!

Thanks..

I second Applewood, what he said was exactly what i thought when i saw the title...

Argh. Sorry e-funsoft. I got this note too late.

I had a bunch of other issues with RC1, so I blew it away and rolled my system back to XP Pro.

my apologies,

Thanks for your opinion, Applewood and Bad Sector..

By the way, if we decide to change the title of the game, could you suggest some suitable titles for WWB? :)

Thank U.

Since I love clichés so much... how about Texas Billy?

e-funsoft
11-17-2006, 01:53 AM
Well, Texas Billy sounds quite good. But does it reflect wild west theme too? I'm not from US and I do not really know how this title would sound to native US people? Does anyone else have opinion on this..?

Applewood

"Wild Bill's <something>" is about as old-west as you can sound, I think.

Your wild Bill isn't *the* wild Bill, but people will get the gist.

'Texas' anything does have a strong western flavor - we generally expect everyone from Texas to be wearing a cowboy hat ;)

Also, Texas has a reputation for executions, so it's a great place to set Hangman! Er. :)

well I think that "Billy's Wildwest Adenture(s)" would work quite nicely for the game title.

Good that you extended the beta test time frame, I still have several categories to spellcheck, I will be sending you a complete list of spelling/grammar errors of the game, soon.

Thanks Kaos, I will consider the title you suggested.

Alright then, I will be waiting for the complete spellchecked word lists, in the mean time, could you inform me your and your wife's names to include in the Credits? (through private message if you'd like) ;)

Good to see you got this project completed.

Thanks Adrian.. Well, actually it took too long for a game project to complete, though. As you can see, we could still use some of your works in the game, such as the bottles and Hall of Fame screen.

We got some problems, design changes and other obstacles making this game - I hope our efforts pay :D
