Finally!!

For those of you who haven't been reading my blog Addictive Football is similar in style to the great games of yesteryear such as Sensible Soccer and Kick Off. Play 5-a-side rules on a variety of different pitches with 5 different game modes to choose from. Including Knockout Cups and League style games as well as a Custom Game Mode where you set the team skills yourself.

A couple of screenshots for you . . .

All feedback welcome!

A new version has just been uploaded to http://addictive247.fileburst.com/addictivefootballdemo.exe

This version has the following improvements:

* You can now control the goal kick. Press the Pass button to do a short but precise kick to a team mate or press the Shoot key to boot the ball upfield.
* A couple of bug fixes to do with Player Vs Player code.
* Text on Key Config page explaining the controls.
* A couple of minor bug fixes.

This is going to be an ongoing project for us as we continue to improve the game. All feedback would be appreciated.

Many Thanks,
Marc.

Over 230 views and no feedback so far :(
It's either such a bad game or nobody likes football

Ok, i don't like football games, not even Winning Eleven, so i won't comment on the gameplay.
My experience:
I tried to play a quick match. When the game started i realized that i have no idea which keys are used to shoot.
Ok, quit & back to the main menu. I found the keyboard layout hidden in the Options menu.
Even there i didn't get a hint what X,Z are doing (one is for pass, one for goal shot).
Maybe you could show the current keys in the main menu, there's space left for example on the green part of the main screen.
Could give a new player the chance to instantly try the game.
Start another quick 3-minute match. Ouch! X,Z is a bad configuration for my german keyboard layout (QWERTZ). Maybe that's why i lost 1:4.
Redefine keys (Y,X) and start another 3-minute match.
I can forclose that i won 3:2 this time.
There was some strange bug though. I think it was after a goal kick of my own goalie that one of my players had the ball but was unable to move. The ball was sticking jittery by my player. I had to wait until the first half of the match was over (fortunately only 25 secs. remained).
There was something about the passing that i had a problem with. When you pass to a player standing close to your current player, the ball was immediatly passed back again. Maybe i was holding the pass key to long.

Thanks for the feedback Karl - much appreciated.

Good idea :)

That bugs fixed in the next build - out later on this week.

Sounds like you kept the pass key down. It only needs a tap to do the pass.

Yes,probably kept it pressed. A solution to this would be to only make another pass when the key has been released before passing again.
My impression of the game was:
Simplistic game that is quite easy to get into. Mediocre graphics and animation. Positive: I had some early gratification scoring goals which was not hard too achieve.

New version has been uploaded which can be found at http://addictive247.fileburst.com/addictivefootballdemo.exe

This version has the following changes:

* Improved A.I.
* Improved Goal Celebration - When you (or the CPU) score a large 3D version of your player is shown in the bottom left corner of the screen doing his goal celebration dance.
* Passing speed - The speed of the ball when passing has been increased slightly.
* Extra polish - Box outlining each score, Logo embossed into the ground of the Astro pitch, whistles when there should be one, better goal! and goal kick text
* Bug fixes - A few small bugs have now been fixed.
* View or Config keys - You can now view the keys or configure them from within the menus instead of going through the Options.

All feedback would be appreciated :)
