I just received my physical copy of Defcon today. The box looks unbeleviable pretty and stylish. I got chills just looking at it. :) And that nice little manual... *drool*
Imagine getting your game boxed and in your hands as a physical copy. It must be the best feeling in the world... that is going to be my ultimate goal.
So when I finally publish my game, I'm going to print some nano T-shirts and get some boxed copies... I don't care if I sell them or not... it would still be worth it.
How many of you made physical version of your products?

much cheaper to get a little retail deal and have someone else do it. I love my boxed copies of Starship Tycoon and Planetary Defence in Russian. And The German copy of Democracy looks awesome too, although it looks a bit sinister for some reason.
My first game, Power Mad, was released in Russia and I was supposed to receive a boxed copy. Never did, though. I should have hounded the publisher more.
Foreign language packaging always look so much cooler than english ones.

Some of my code (namely, CFL3) has ended up in weird places, like indie games - sometimes I hear about this, contact the people, and they promise to send me a free copy (even if I haven't asked for it =)). Sometimes I even get the games.
Some of the games I've worked on at Fathammer also got released in a retail box.
But no, haven't made a retail box of my very own games, but that may be because all my games are freely downloadable =)
Anyway, having a boxed copy of whatever software you've made is important, if only to remind you that you have actually done something *real*.

I've got a boxed copy of Venture Africa framed on my wall next to my desk. But it means a bit more than that... the retail version sold better than the online version ;)

It's an awesome feeling, even if in our case online sales were way better than retail sales. We have a Wild West Wendy russian CD-ROM box, a Wild West Wendy german CD-ROM in a DVD box, and Pirate Poppers english in an actual cardboard box with a flap and all (or whatever it's called) :)

Not quite. It's just German. Try being romantic in German. It's incredibly difficult. It's engineered well, but difficult. B-)
Yeah, it's a fantastic feeling to receive the boxed version of a game you've done - it must be even better when it's been nicely designed, like the Defcon artwork. I just want to say, well done. I'll be first in the queue for a Defcon T-shirt.

Yes they do make excellent boxes... anyone know what the additional cost of the flap is?
