What would we have to do to convince you to install a wiki? If you guys installed something like MediaWiki (http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/MediaWiki), then we could use it as a sort of link-wiki, linking to important and oft discussed topics here on the forums and the Dexterity archive, et al. This would help organize relevant information, reduce redundancy, and really provide a useful service to new users and old users alike. Additionally, a prominent banner at the top of the forum pages would drive attention to the feature. ("Why wait for an answer when the question's been asked before? Click here for the highlights of Indiegamer.com!") What do you think?

What if I begged? ;)

I'd be happy to add an indie gamer section to the Game Programming Wiki, and link back to these forums from there. We could then use that section of the wiki as the indiegamer repository of knowledge.

However, if the admins do want their own wiki on this domain, that would of course make the most sense!

I'd also like to see that "percentage vote" feature implemented on this forum. Is that available on vBulletin?

I'll take a peek and see how feesable it would be to get something like media wiki setup on our servers. Seems like a decent idea.

Someone set one up before - it had a ton of info, but was completely raped by page edit spam. Mediawiki may be more robust in that regard however. Although it requires moderation - users should be able to do that, just need to edit the help page a lot so everyone can see hoe to revert pages.

Spam is a big problem with wikis. A rather simple and very robust solution would be using this forum's user table and some pulled out of the arse condition like 5+ posts, 3+ days registered and account still active.

Hehehe... I wonder what sort of conditions could be pulled out of my arse.. none very favourable I'm reasonably sure.

My offer to host this info on the Game Programming Wiki still stands. We have an active community there, and we delete spam immediately. (I also have a number of anti-spam measures installed, and a few home-brew ones too!)

If you're interested in getting started, just let me know.

So, what's the status of this, Dan? You get a chance to try this out, yet?

I vote for an IndieGamer section on gpwiki. At least until something gets set up here.
