hi all!

2 questions!

First, I see you guys use a lot Plimus as a payment service. The greed seam taking to me, we use emetrix with a minimum 3$ charge per transaction or 15% which is the greater. I’m being a sucker?

On the other hand we have a good business relationship with emetrix. The answer quickly to our emails, since we have a money back guarantee on one of our product a Usenet newsreader software, we have to be sure the refund are easily made… We never had any problem to that regard.

Is plimus trust worthy?
Do they deserve your patronage?
Do the check keep coming at a regular interval?
What other payment service do you use?

Second,
Do you think a custom made payment page with you logos and design, is more or less appealing to customer or scare them or make them more comfortable with the buying then the page of the payment service.

Thanks a lot

Is plimus trust worthy?

I've used BMT, ShareIt, RegNow and Plimus. Of those, Plimus are as good as anyone I've ever used. Plimus have never been anything other than helpful, honest, responsive and decent in all dealings.

Do they deserve your patronage?

Not sure how to answer that. No one "deserves" my patronage, as such. If a better service came along, I'd take it. But with the above trust issues taken into account, there's no one left who offers a service which competes with Plimus for us. There are cheaper options, but I like the extras you get with a service like Plimus or BMT.

Do the check keep coming at a regular interval?

They've never been a day late paying us. We get paid through PayPal though. It arrives in the middle of each month just as it's supposed to.

What other payment service do you use?

We've still got PayPal buttons because PayPal is a name some people just know and like. It accounts for a very small percentage of sales though.

I've used BMT, ShareIt, RegNow and Plimus. Of those, Plimus are by far the most trustworthy. RegNow and BMT both let me/us ( RegNow let *us* down, BMT was from before Glimmer Games, and was only connected to me ) down big time in the trust department. So while they both have good services ( or appear to, I've not used BMT in quite a while ) it would be hard to get over that broken trust issue. Plimus have never been anything other than helpful, honest, responsive and decent in all dealings.

What you mean by being let down? I was thinking of going with RegNow because they seem to be the least expensive but are you saying they don't pay timely or they report less sales then you actually had?

I've edited my original post. I believe I misunderstood the question. I was speaking of trust in general, not of trust regarding payment or reporting issues.

Neither issue with either company was a serious matter. It was just issues of principle which told me I couldn't trust them. If anyone wants to PM me about, I'm more than happy to answer it there, but I don't want to derail this thread.

450 download sites for $29.95 now that sounds like something i would be interested in.

How can you do all this work for this price? (download.com and gametrove took me a good 20 mins)

Sounds too good to be true:)

Darren.

We've automated a large part of the service. We have a database and although it takes a while to set everything up before submissions can begin, a significant portion of the work can be done without either of us being present. Nevertheless, it is getting to be a lot of work so we have been considering putting the price up. Who know, maybe we'd get more business from people who think 29.95 sounds too good to be true ;)

In fact, just looked a couple days ago and it's over 500 now. but I'm not going to edit my sig. We can't guarantee that every site will accept every submission so I'll leave it at 450 and if people get more, they're not likely to complain.

It's all nice but what about the payment service you are using? :o

We don't use a payment service, we just wrote our own order system in PHP. All these services charge 10-20% of your sales for processing. If you write your own then you just pay the credit card merchant account (like costco) around 5%. Over time and with decent volume this really adds up.

Search through past threads, there has been a fair amount of disscussion on this topic in the past.

Is there any similar service to email links to magazines? You know, so your game gets reviewed and all.
