Dejobaan Games, LLC (http://www.dejobaan.com) is looking for a concept artist to help develop a revolutionary visual style for its next video game, Galaxy Rage (http://www.galaxyrage.com).

We'd like an artist to create concept sketches for in-game environments using geometric patterns, organic shapes, and contrasts between darkness and light. This look would draw on the styles of Escher, Dali, and Ernst; and (in the world of computer graphics) the Demoscene (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demoscene). Work would involve:

Dialogue - A back-and-forth with us via e-mail to establish a style for environmental elements such as terrain, sky, architecture, and other structures. (See the above image for our prototype. We'll also provide a collection of source material.)
Concept sketches - Based on the ongoing dialogue, you'll create a series of concept sketches for us to use as a guide for the in-game artwork. This is a paid, short-term contract. Work will be done remotely (if you're in the Worcester-Cambridge, MA area, we'd love to have an initial discussion in person). If you're interested, drop us a note to discuss the scope and cost of such a project:

Contact us at support@dejobaan.com, subject GALAXY RAGE CONCEPT ART.
Include a link to your portfolio/CV.With Galaxy Rage, we hope to create a game that critics and gamers alike hail as a visual masterpiece, pioneering a fresh, new look. For that, we need the help of a talented and visionary artist!

I appreciate your interest, and look forward to hearing from you soon.

That would be a job I'd love to do, but I'm not very good at art so I won't apply. But I thought I'd add a comment -

No offense, but the visual style doesn't seem very original - very much like some games I've seen - notably Darwinia, with the 3D wireframe type graphics. Is that why you're trying to find someone to change it?

Anyway, sounds like an ambitious project (all games seem to be xD), and I hope you finish it.

What you're seeing above is the prototype artwork (programmer artwork). We wanted to round out the gameplay first, but ultimately, I'd like folks to say, "this looks even sexier than Doom 3 or Half Life 2." I think an indie studio can do that by tossing photorealism out the window and running, full-tilt, in the opposite direction.

Me too. If we don't, then I get thrown out of my home and have to live in a cardboard box. :)

I'd recommend you hit up the Conceptart.org forums for that job.

I'm intrigued by it, but I'm much more of a production monkey...

Yep! We did Conceptart and CGSociety, and I've been asking around locally, since it may be of value to meet with an artist in person. (Though I've worked with creative consultants via the Net to good effect in the past, so it's not an iron prerequisite.)

If anyone has any suggestions as to other forums where we could post this, please let me know.

I think the idea is very interesting, your Inago game looks pretty cool.

How are the levels in Galaxy Rage broken up? You fight on the landscape? Can you fly?

How are the levels in Galaxy Rage broken up?

They're individual planets that players can visit and leave (mostly) at will.

Can you fly?

Yup! It's a mechanic similar to the game's spiritual predecessor, Inago Rage (http://www.inagorage.com), which had the player flying around with rocket boots. It makes for an interesting level design challenge.

MiceHead;

This project looks very interesting. I'm looking forward to play some kind of demo soon.
