Near-Complete 3D Puzzle Game - All rights, IP, and Source Code

This game is very near completion, but I just don't have the time or funds to really finish it. I want to be able to put some money into my newer game ideas, so I need to make some of this back that I've invested. Therefore I am offering up the entire game including source code and IP rights for sale. You or your company can release the game as-is, or build upon it and make it more to your liking.

The game is very polished with beautiful 3D graphics and cool particle effects. It runs under DirectX 8.1 and on any reasonably recent PC and was written in C++. It is currently a single-player only game.

Here is a list of things that should be tweaked before you resell it:

* Music added
* Difficulty tweaked to be easier.
* Game modes tweaked to be a little more simple (i.e. Time Challenges)
* Credits screen and splash screen

This is your chance to save months worth of planning and development!

I saw this blogged over at joystiq (where typically they misunderstood the value of IP and indie games).

However, they raised some good points about being a bit close to "Meteos" (which was a great game, one of my favourite on the DS). And what with the recent crack down on Lumines clones I don't see how this would be any different?

It does actually look quite decent from what I can tell, but surely you would stand more chance of shifting it with a playable demo of where it stands now? Unless I missed a link somewhere.

Yea, I didn't really want to spread a demo around on Joystiq as I didn't want to undermine the final product for the buyer. I didn't think the final buyer would appreciate a free near complete copy floating around. But I suppose it wouldn't hurt since it does lack some important things like music.

I hadn't heard about any major Lumines crackdown, do you have any links?

Probably pointless to buy this, since making a game with just blocks, using this mechanic, is about a two-week effort for someone who's determined.

Doubly worse to buy it because the Meteos people are planning a PC port, and they ARE sue-happy... just look what happened to all the Lumines people.

mustardseed > try searching this forum "Lumines" there were a few games released similar in style and in most of the threads the crack down was talked about If I remember.

I suppose John Is right in that a block based game (3D or otherwise) is around a 2 week affair to get a decent prototype with front end, but perhaps someone somewhere is desperate enough and doesn't have good enough coding skills to make something already up to that standard. However if they don't have the skills to build it themselves within a month then it's unlikely they could make head nor tails of your code. I have always found it quicker to write my own code than try to "adjust" or even read other peoples, it's a nightmare. ;)

Anyway, you are perfectly entitled to sell this if you want so good luck but as we have both said... the Meteos thing is a problem (and probably the price is a bit high also).

As for a demo, ok I understand - maybe keep it just for interested people but post that fact on your sales page "demo available on request" with a unique archive password or something?

Forgive me, because it has been a while since that discussion and nothing is turning up immediately upon a search: Was your post just now riddled with sarcasm, or are you serious? What became of the issue?

Thanks in advance for refreshing this tired, forgetful mind! :)

Dunno if indiepath was being sarcastic or not, I now recall his c'bubble and what have you being lumines-esq and they seem to have no trouble selling?

So obviousally IANAL I was just pointing out that what was a "danger" for Lumines clones is also probably a danger for metoes clones esp with the official port to PC mentioned.

And the original posters game/video etc does actually look a bit more involved than just a 2 week tech demo/prototype and possibly a worthy investment to someone who has lots of cash and little time. Problem is I think most indies are the other way around ;)
