I had to go to Wal*Mart to get $2.99 worth of greenscreen material (read: cheapo grass-colored fabric). However, I went to the Wal*Mart in Tibet, and had to make the journey on foot. So, after some downtime, we bring you Indie Superstar Episode #5, a video webcast (and podcast) about indie games:

www.indiesuperstar.com (http://www.indiesuperstar.com)

In this show, we talk about Venture the Void (interstellar exploration), ShapeZapper (puzzle), Feed Me (action/browser), Virtual Villagers (simulation), and the Slamdance indie games compo.

Thank you for watching!

Sidenote: Do you totally have a totally awesome indie game you'd totally like us to talk about? Because we will. Just drop us a note at support@dejobaan.com (use the subject INDIE SUPERSTAR, and it'll get through our spam filters unless it's a game about v1agra).

Gaming news!
Awesome!

B-) Presumably someone behind the camera was trying to make Mimi and Susan laugh?

As always. I love it. Just wish it was a half hour long. :)

Nice. Some comments:

* Use static microphones (or what the reverse of a dynamic mic is?). What you use now "catches" the whole surrounding sounds and it's hard to listen. If you can't at least add subtitles :-P.
* When you say an URL, put it in the screen too.
* Make it bigger :-P.

Beyond these, it's ok.

She kept laughing whenever Mimi said, "2D." ("Tootie! Tootie!") Honestly, you'd think that a woman who's going for her Ph.D would have more restraint. :)

Just wish it was a half hour long.

I'm actually concerned about length; is 4.5 minutes too short? Do we need more meat?

The sound's been a thorn in my side. We're using a pair of Audio Technica at815a's for the newest recordings (i.e., not Mimi and Sue's clips). These are decent shotguns, but I haven't been able to eliminate the ridiculous echoes from my mostly-empty livingroom -- uh, I mean our professional recording studio. I'm tempted to cover all the damned walls in padding at this point.

When you say an URL, put it in the screen too.

I thought I could be lazy about it. But you're right. :)

Thank you all for watching!

YES!

I find I am just settling into watching it and it ends. I think 10 minutes would be great but you will need more content preview of my WIP game.

Also the URL thing had been mentioned in a previous thread and is the one thing that really stands out as lacking. Everyone puts text on screen when they read out a URL or an address on TV. ;)

Thanks for the show though, I always download it because I would love to see it get better and want to witness the progression.

I agree with the above comments. Things just get rolling when we hear "that's all the time we have." I think you could spend more time on your topics. I'd like more details on the games you're covering.

The onscreen text for the discussed websites is a must! Sometimes it's hard to hear (with your shotgun mike :) ) what the name is. I'd also suggest a closing title that recaps the show. Something like:

"Here are the links to the sites discussed on the show:
Match 3 Clone
www .blablabla.com

Rootbeer Tapper Clone
www .blablabla2.com

Geometry Wars Clone
www .blablabla3.com"

Every edition seems to improve over the last. Now just give us more of it. :D
