From the creator of Dungeon Scroll and Dink Smallwood comes a new RPG creation tool called NovaShell (http://www.rtsoft.com/novashell/).
I just ran across this on independent gaming (http://indygamer.blogspot.com/) and thought that this might be of interest to folks here on the forums. I can't wait to see what folks make with this when it comes out...

Hah, I remember seeing someone posting about that in the #gamedevelopers on Starchat IRC. Or maybe it was just the Below the Root-like game being made with it. It's still cool to see it again.

I didn't think Seth had released this yet, or even publicized it.

That's great! Even more exciting is that Seth is making another RPG game. Dink Smallwood, although a little evil, is one of my all-time favorites!

I emailed Seth and he said that there will be an alpha available for download soon (matter of weeks) for both windows and osx. He's having trouble getting cut and paste working properly in osx :) Plus there will be a few examples to play with as well.

So, NS is now out, any comments?? I'm trying to get it going under Linux, so no review from me yet. But man it does look cool...

I'm pulling it down now and will play with it tonight. Hopefully this is a solution I can use for an RPG idea of my own....
thanks whisperstorm! *waves*

I've been helping alpha test the engine and I must say it's really amazing. The more amazing thing is the fact that everything you create is in itself "moddable". It's almost like cascading stylesheets for gaming. And it uses Lua for scripting so there may be many folks creating extensions etc. once it comes out. I found myself asking for a feature request then realized I could just do it myself with some scripting....

Trying? What problems are you having? I have a Debian system, and it worked fine for me. Do you have hardware accelerated graphics? Are you getting an error?

It just won't launch. I have the latest driver for my card, everything else works, I just can't get NS to launch.
EDIT: D'oh! I missed the "requires gcc 4.13?" comment on the NS page. I guess I'll have to install it.
