Do anybody know another game design forum where more artistic, experimental, learning discussions take place?.

Sorry for being blunt, but didn't we have a thread like this a few days ago?

Nope, the other one was about simple plain game design chat, im asking for a more focused one because this community isnt interested in that kind of thing.

Well, for specific game design communities tehre are a number of places you can go. Do you like 2d games? MMORPGS? depending on your interest there are forums and communities scattered all over that tend to relate to specific design geanre's.

What is it that you wanted to discuss exactly? Make a new thread!

because this community isnt interested in that kind of thing.

Says who? Did I miss a good deep conversation thread somewhere in which the community dumped on the concept of such discussions?

The Gamedev.net Game Design forums used to be pretty lively, but then Wavinator left, which took away about 50% of the worthwhile posts in it. I occasionally drop by there and sometimes find something worth reading.

Casual games are interesting from a business perspective and since this has classically been a business oriented forum (to the point of being a flaw sometimes) the topics tend to go casual.

The problem with design discussions about other types of games, more core games lets say. Is that every idiot who grew up playing video and computer games thinks he's gods gift to game design has an opinion on the topic they want to shove down everyones throats. These conversations tend to result in 5 page monster threads where two or more mental midgets duke it out for an audience that simply doesn't care.

If we could manage to have a constructive discussion about RPG's or Action games, or FPS's then I'm sure there would be people interested in participating. The scenario I described above often makes this prohibitive.

It just doesn't seem appropriate here. I get the feeling that the OPs are trying to keep everything casual. I actually have written up long posts taking apart games and talking about what makes them fun and how they could be made better, but I've never had to heart to post them in fear of seeing them either getting locked or ignored
Speaking only for myself, I seriously doubt that's the case. As a mod I have never locked or seen locked any thread becasue it's not about casual games, and I haven't heard about any kind of discrimination towards non-casual threads. So post! Your threads may get ignored, which can happen to anyone, but it won't be because of the mods actively discouraging it.

There is no effort to only discuss casual games or keep everything casual etc... There is a separate section for casual games that we setup to segregate it even. That being said, of course a lot of the discussion is about casual games. Why? Because that is the most accessbile and viable indie market at the moment, and a lot of the people who post here make and sell games for a living. It's not about us, it's the market.
