Casual game distribution

I'm pondering wether to start a game with other people, and I was just wondering how many casual games these days are distributed physically, like make it to a retail store? Or is online more of the trend for casual games?

The vast majority of casual titles do not find their way to retail. In the stores, there is only a finite amount of space (and the space is shrinking in some places), so the retailers are usually very selective about what they carry. On the other hand, on the Internet, there are no real space limitations. There is room for everyone's game - the challenge is getting the right people to find yours!
