I would like to upload weak pieces of my artwork for my game and get some critiques. Is this a bad idea? I was thinking of starting a blog and posting my work on it but I really want other artist and not random people commenting on it.

I saw the gameproducer.net
(http://www.gameproducer.net/2006/04/16/secret-game-project-concepts-done/)put up concept art.
(For them it was probably just PR and a desire for exhibition)

What say you sages.

ps apologies if this is not the right thread

Thank you for your reply.

From what I'm seeing conceptart.org seems like a place for concept art used in traditional art works.

I'm thinking that it would be inappropriate to dump several vector art pieces w/o context for individual critique. People do just that and more at deviantart. There you can upload a gallery worth of content and people will look at each pic by itself and judge it on its own merits. Could this be done at conceptart.org or would it be considered rude?

any comments?

Do any of you have a problem letting other ppl see your artwork before the game is complete?

If you explain your intentions with each artwork i dont think you will have any trouble, try it, just dont be rude.

You're more likely to get critiqued at conceptart.org, even if it is vector art. At DeviantArt, you're just gonna get empty compliments that will annoy you. Not to mention the process to actually upload art at DA is very very very long and stupid-several webpages of crap just to get the image up with a description. I've watched my friend do it and I want to choke whoever created the process.

There's also the problem of deviantART being too big. The only way to actually get feedback and people to look at your work is if you're well known or keep posting in the forum they have. Otherwise, you'll just be another face in a sea of artists.

Also, try http://forums.cgsociety.org. A lot of game/movie/book artists go here to get help.
