A real nice one, but this is not enough to explain all the real problems of forums :)

I still have a forum which recently reached 50k posts and since it has 90% of the possible answered questions in "emulation" area, it starts to become boring - people don't post anything, they use search and always find the answers :)
I had to add game discussion forums ("forgot a game name", "old game", "cheats") so there so it will be a bit more "alive", then 100% technical.
