View Full Version : Plimus help - don't collect address info?

I've been reviewing my buynow page with Plimus (so far a fair amount of visitors but not a lot of finishers), and I'm thinking that having to enter your address for a product that is being delivered over the internet might be putting people off. I have "Collect Shipping Address" unchecked, but in this age of online delivery is it a necessity to even collect the billing address?

I'm also using the default of not allowing sales from free email addresses. Is this the best option? (meaning is the scary 97.3% fraud using free email accounts really a factor for you?)

Billing addresses are useful to imply that the person is slightly more likely to own the credit card and not have simply stolen it or generated the number. I've never had anyone complain about the need to provide an address.

I have had someone complain once about not having a *telephone* to fill in required information on an order form....

A fair point, and I guess it is pretty standard practice in ecommerce.
Thanks, papillon.

I get regular sales from people with hotmail or yahoo addresses. If you disallow them then you'll lose (or at least piss off heartily) those people. There are other ways to check for fraud, I don't think disallowing free emails is a good one. (Although I would probably have no problem disallowing most .ru emails).

Thanks Sillysoft! That's all I needed to hear. Just updated it. Cheers!

How do they invoice for VAT if they don't have a billing address? it's a prerequisite.
