Headgate is an excellent game development studio with a family friendly environment.
Thanks.

I'm still waiting for someone to say their company is "a hole" or some other anti-encouraging words, in a recuitment post. ;)
Something tells me I'm going to be waiting a while. :D

I've worked in a "hole" studio before. I quit that job because it asked for too much overtime and was not "family friendly". I realize a lot of guys in the game industry don't worry about families, but I have a wife, two children and one on the way and family is extremely important to me. I turned down offers from other studios because they told me in all honesty that they expected about 50 hours in the average work week (not cruch).
At Headgate, most of the guys are married and have kids. Everybody works hard and we all get along great with each other. Management makes a sincere and strong effort to avoid having people work overtime.
We have guys at Headgate that have been there for 5 to 10 years and have no plans on leaving and aren't showing any signs of "burn out". Headgate is one of the few game studios that actually gets it when it comes to hiring and keeping talent.
I don't get anything for promoting Headgate, but I do it because I'm sick and tired of other studios abusing employees and then saying "that's just the way it is in the game industry".
I always speak up to help promote good studios and businesses. I want to see them prosper while the abusive ones waste away.

·Software engineer. The ideal candidate will have a B.S. in Computer Science, or equivalent, and +3 yrs experience in prior game development. The position is a full-time position (benefits, 401k, etc.), but we only have a project for them until January. This means that they should expect it to be a 6 month contract. Salary is based on experience.
·Game Producer/Designer. The ideal candidate will have at least +3 years in the game industry and have shipped at least 1 AA title as the designer and/or producer. Must be a quick learner and very detail oriented. This position is also a full-time contractor, but the position extends until next July. Salary is based on experience.
Note, this is ideal, but if you're really good without the qualifications, send me your resume anyway. Thanks.

Hey Mike,
Just wanted to say what a breath of fresh air it is to hear that a few game companies like that exist out there. If I were still in the market for fulltime employment I'd be banging down your door checking if you need artists :P Good luck with your project and your recruiting efforts.
