Does anyone use Software Passport for copy protection? I downloaded a trial version to try it out, but I can't get it to work. The "protected" .exe files it produces don't run, or throw any errors of any kind.

Any help would be appreciated.

You should search for all FAQ and hints for problem-solving in the help file. It depends very much on your programming language and the combination of the security options, hard to tell you something more specific. At the beginning I recommend using only the lowest protection and compression. Once it works you can activate other options or increase the security level.

I think what the poster might be looking for is indeed in the help file.I don't wish to be too specific in a public forum, however, I can direct you to the right area. If you're using a tool such as Blitzmax,GameMaker, etc, look in the appropriate sections of the help file. There are specific settings required for the exe's that are produced. You didn't give much info to go on, and I'm guessing that you are using a tool similiar to what I've mentioned. They're known to throw errors if you don't set certain things in a specific way.

Actually I have read the FAQ, and the entire help document and found nothing that helps me. I have tried every setting I can think of. The problem is that when I create a "protected" .exe, I can not execute it.

I don't see any errors when I create the protected file, or when I try to execute it. It just doesn't run.

When I run the "Fast Protect" here's the message it generates:

Fast Protection of files has completed

View the directory that contains the files you have protected. You will see the following files:

1. These are the protected files you should use to build the final binary exe:
C:\Documents and Settings\Rick Battagline\My Documents\My Web Sites\line-M-Up\BlockBomber.exe

2. For future use, this file stores project statistics:
armtest.stats

3. These are a backup of original files prior to protection:
C:\Documents and Settings\Rick Battagline\My Documents\My Web Sites\line-M-Up\BlockBomber.exe.PreARM

I don't understand #1. It says you should use the protected file to build the final binary exe, but I thought that is what I was building.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
