A long, but interesting, read from Wired The Long Tail (http://www.wired.com/wired/archive/12.10/tail.html) which seems to apply very well to indie life...

"In a Long Tail economy, it's more expensive to evaluate than to release."

This may be the most insightful thing I've read in a long, long time. Especially when you can continue evaluating after release, like you can with software (to fix bugs, add more content, etc). Just put it out there!

Very positive and encouraging! Not so much as a developer (I'd still hope to claw my way as far up the tail as I can), but as a consumer (will the day finally arrive when I can actually get hold of the stuff I want?)

There'd be no need to pull a shifty with anyone's IP rights if all old, obscure and out-of-print material was made accessible and available for a small fee.
