Hey there, some of you guys probably recall me from my work at TLC as the marketing Director for Next Arcade and Flex Arcade; others of you recall me from back in the day running CyPR Media. Others may only know me from the articles about my previous clients in Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, NBC, Maxim, Stuff, PlayBoy, New York Times, RedBook, Gizmodo, IGN/GameSpy, RetroBlast, GamersHell, GamersInfo and more.

Anyhow, I am back and I can't wait to start working with indie gamers again!

After leaving TLC last fall I took a couple months off to think about how to help indie gamers (as well as small business in general) with marketing and promotional efforts - at a cost and service level that matched their needs.

The reality is that most small businesses don’t need a dedicated full time marketing agency – and even fewer can justify the cost. What most need is a helping hand, the tools to make an impact and someone to point them in the right direction!

That’s why I decided to create marketinghelpnet.com and offer membership to the service for only $100 a month, or $1000 for an annual payment.

Specifically for indies, what marketinghelpnet.com can do is help you reach various online - as well as print, local and trade media, submit your game to web portals, help optimize your website, and provide marketing consultation to increase your sales.

Additionally, marketinghelpnet.com will help you organize media appointments at industry tradeshows such as Game Developers Conference and E3.

For those of you who may only need a single press release, or maybe a sell sheet to provide to investors, publishers etc. We can also help you there.

marketinghelpnet.com is a full service resource and can help you in pretty much what ever direction you want to go.

If this sounds like something of interest, please let me know!

I have to agree that it sounds a bit expensive for most in this group. And I don't like the idea of an ongoing monthly fee. I would rather spend my marketing dollars in a more targeted fashion during keys times of my product releases. And because of limited budgets, I think that most developers here do many of the tasks themselves. Maybe a more useful post (for me anyway) would include specific prices for specific one-time marketing tasks. Or software marketing self-help kits, or something along that line.

Anyway, that's my One-Cents worth... (I'm on a budget.) ;)

I agree that for an indie develloper it would be more relevant to have a one-shot package rather than a monthly fee.

For marketing advice this at least makes my book seem like a great value :)

I guess the question is how much increased revenue you could expect to see for your hundred bucks.

I would be more than happy to offer a specific “product launch package” or something similar as I did with CyPR Media previously.

From my experience though, what is important to consider is that marketing is not – or should not be - a “one shot deal” that you turn on an off by sending out a press release and hoping people read it.

Instead, it should be a sustained and integrated approach – using all applicable disciplines under the marketing umbrella … this includes Market Analysis, Media Relations, Direct Mail, Event Planning, Crisis Management and of course product development among other aspects.

What marketinghelpnet.com offers is a sustained relationship with small businesses for a very low rate – compare what we are offering to what a traditional agency would charge/offer.

As a new member, we’ll sit down with you and review previous marketing efforts – successes as well as failures, next we’ll develop a plan to reach your goals and introduce you to the media – local, national and trade.

Then, on an ongoing basis, members will be able to benefit from marketing ideas generated by marketinghelpnet.com – including how to take advantage of seasonal events such as father’s day, mother’s day etc. Additionally, as we learn of editorial as well as promotional opportunities such as charity event gift bags etc. we’ll provide those to our members.

Plus, you have access to our database full of templates, tips and how-to’s, discounts on premium services such as sell sheet design, direct mail campaigns etc. Additionally, we’ll help you organize and maximize your tradeshows and other events where you will be showing your games.

If you want just a one shot price on a press release written or a sell sheet created then contact me directly. Tell me about your company and your goals.

I would be happy to help you, even if you aren’t a member.

If you are just searching for the least expensive way to write a press release and send it out, marketinghelpnet.com may not be right for you – and there are tons of services out there that I am sure will be more than happy to help you.

I think the most important thing to consider when considering joining marketinghelpnet.com is what results we can provide to your company compared to a other marketing companies or going on your own.

marketinghelpnet.com members and my previous clients have been featured in PlayBoy, viewed on a nationally syndicated NBC show and featured on the front page of the Wall Street Journal. In practical terms, our pre-launch members have all seen a more benefit than expense from their memberships. i.e. increased sales / revenue

Any game developer – or small business owner – who is serious about wanting to improve their company’s marketing and public relations efforts should contact me directly any time.
