I'm new to Photoshop! I have no problem drawing a rectangle with a border. However, I can't figure out how to change the width "thickness" of the border? In Paint Shop Pro it is straight forward but I Photoshop it is not obvious.
I am using Photoshop 7.
Thanks

A couple different ways.
Use the rectangle selection tool to select a rectangle. Then go to the menu and pick Select -> Modify -> Border... and enter the number of pixels wide you want the border to be. Then fill the selection with whatever you want. This will create a rectangle with a hollow center.
You can also draw a rectangle (fill a selection, or use the rectangle shape tool). Then go to the menu and pick Layer -> Layer Style -> Stroke... and pick a color and size. The layer style window is super-powerful. Have fun playing around with it.

I figured out the stroke.:) However, the select -> modify -> border is not available? The modify is greyed out?

In order to use select > border the rectangle has to be rasterized. Right click on the layer and select Rasterize Layer. Then do the rest like Bachus said.

In order to use select > border the rectangle has to be rasterized. Right click on the layer and select Rasterize Layer. Then do the rest like Bachus said.
Thanks for the help!
