Hi there,

I'm busy with a small project at the moment, and I'm doing a bit of "market research" in a couple of locations.

I need to know which company you use to register your domain(s), and if you don't mind disclosing, how many domains at each company you have. I'll post my stats as an example of what I'm looking for:

Uniforum (co.za domains): 5
ZA NIC (za.net domains): 2
GoDaddy: 6
Directi (via reseller): 13

Even if you don't want to say how many domains you have, I'd appreciate if you can at least post which company you use. Please include any country-specific or regional domains if applicable.

Thanks!
Juan

I've got about a dozen domains at Godaddy. I used to have a few at Network Solutions. I thought they were hard to deal with so I moved them all to Godaddy at the suggestion of a web designer that I know. I've found Godaddy to be much better, not perfect, but better.

I have about 20 domains with GoDaddy. I have nothing but good things to say about them. I used to have them all over the place but over time have moved them over to GoDaddy.

Dotser. They manage everything including renewal reminders and automatic renewal (it your choice). Good for people like Cas.:) Usually, you kind find a coupon for Dotster. Try "FREEMONEY".

Why does every body have so many domains....last time I checked you only needed one.

Are you planning to make a living off selling domain names maybe?

A lot of devs have gamename.com for each game they make, and some of us also have other domains not related to games (other interest). You only need "one" for one site, if you have more than one site you need more than one domain name ;)

Sometimes it's prudent to register similar sounding names to stop people cashing in on your IP. And it's also a good idea to register names for projects that you're planning on doing in the future. There's nothing worse than coming up with a great name and finding that someone else has taken that web address to put up pictures of their birthday party *Sigh*

Well, I personally have a different domain for each service I render. If I render the service to two different markets (South Africa and International, I'll have two websites under different domains, currencies, price points, etc)

It's just a matter of separating your interests. I also have .com/.net/.org/.info/.biz of the same domain to prevent squatters.

A ton of domains at (102) GoDaddy and a couple of domains (8) at BulkRegister. I think I have way too many domain names, definitely time to downsize in that department. Never had problems with either company. (Been using Bulkregister for around 9 years or so now, and been using Godaddy for the last 4 or so years.)
