I guess this is another one thats been answered a million times but searching has thrown up nothing.

I'm hoping to release something to the "casual" market and I'd like to make it available to as many potential customers as possible. What sort of machine spec are you aiming at / expecting the casual users to have?

I hoping to hit the non-addrenaline junkies if that changes anything :) I suppose the ultimate answer is as low as possible while not sacrificing features/polish - but reasonably, what should I be expecting?

Have you been checking out the top games on portals like Big Fish (http://bigfishgames.com)? It's easy to find all the specs on those pages, and I don't think you'll find better data points than that, for the current casual market.

A 500 mhz cpu with a TNT-class 3D card seems to be the standard. And such a machine might have 64 mB of ram. You could increase 100 mhz per year or so, as old machines (I hope) die.

I'm targeting 32MB GeForce-class machines with 1GHz and 128MB of RAM. Judging by my logs and conversion rates it covers plenty enough customers.
