Well not that much pain in my case but I'd say if all of you came and bitched at me right now it would make me feel a bit lighter than the immaturity I just experienced when doing a marketing survey on a game fan board. My survey got abused by immature staff and every question got turned around with horrible sexual inneundo. Well then, they're out of it aren't they?

How many of you have ever had an egg thrown at your head when trying to promote your company or project or doing a marketing analysis?

Not me, in my case, they had been very helpfull and nice. But, its all in how you do it, how you say it, your attitude, and reactions, so... i dont know who to blame, them or you  :o , depends on where you ask too, there are a lot of kids out there, waiting to insult and sexual innuendificate any paser by, so, you learn by experience i suposse.

I've had some bad experiences in my case (especially with my first game :( ), but I changed my approach on the second product and got mostly positive feedback/feedback full stop (only got banned from 1 forum out of the 10 or so i marketted my product!)

In many cases (especially with forums) many don't take kindly to advertising/marketing of most sorts (sometimes classified as spam), what i would say is checkout how others go about spreading their message (the good and the bad), this way you'll know how to get the best results and where best to get them!

Regarding the sexual inneundo thing, i'm not sure, if your talking about how people react to females on (certain) forums, then yep, best to sometimes keep that fact to yourself (that's assuming your a female, if this is not the case, forgive me for allowing 'sexual inneundo' experience to lead me to that conclusion)

I've seen dudes get way to excited when a female is on a gaming/male dominated forum to the point that they used to run them off the site all together (although in that case, the girl in question put saucy photos of herself not helping the equality matter). Also, there are a lot of young/uncivilised peeps on the net, so you have to learn how to read between the lines with some peoples ways of communicating (e.g. some will say 'i don't like this because', others will say 'this is rubbish, go get a job' while others might say 'this is rubbish, because of such and such'). (Again, forgive me if i'm reading far too much into the 'sexual inneundo'/female thing, however, if any females are reading, take heed!)

Whatever happens, just try and keep your cool and don't give unconstructive/personal/nonsense comments an equally unconstructive/personal/nonsense response, that's how flaming starts!

As Christian says though, you definetly learn by experience! :)

EDIT:

Just read this:
Your "contributions" are amusing. But you can stop now.

I'm going to ask you to refrain from posting further. You're not helping and <Mod Edit: pointless fight>
This kind of response can get you in trouble with peeps in forums, even if it wasn't intended to be nasty, it kinda reads that way and is an example of how not to do it ;)

Also, forgive me for allowing the 'sexual inneundo' comment to lead me to suggest you were a female getting hassle from adolescent male posters, after reading, I believe this is not the case :o
