Ok, it would be cool to have couple of StarCraft 2 vs 2 or even 3 vs 3 online sessions among indie folks. Sign up here if you don't mind to have your arse kicked in some fierce battle :)

I think that sounds like a great idea. We'd have to schedule times, however, since spontaneous gaming isn't as likely these days as when I was in college.

Sure we have to schedule, especially since I am on the other side of the globe :) But first we have to gather here some people interested in this subject at all. I guess there are two of us now. Anyone else?

I'm definitely down, SC is one of my favorite games of all time.

I'll play both Brood War and regular SC, although I admit that I prefer regular SC :)

so lets make decision on time and which fsgs server to play on... I am available on weekend almost all day. Tomorrow I am available too. And I am taking about Brood War, never though some people still play original SC ^_^

You can bet your ass I'm in! :) I own Brood War, though I've never played it. So go easy on me! ;)

Likewise - I own Brood War, but I've never played a multiplayer game since it seems that most people tend to stick to the original version. Count me in!

Alright guys, seems like we have a crowd now  hell, we could even have some serious 3 vs 3 slaughter :D
So let's decide and schedule something up. Personally I play on games.podolsk.ru - Russian server because it's the only fsgs server I know :)
but since we'll have a private sessions I guess it doesn't matter much. If you don't mind about this server, use attached .reg file to add it to Brood War gateway list. Oh, and you have to patch BroodWar to version 1.13f in order to play online.

Another question is when we gonna do that. I'm pretty open on this question so please go ahead and tell me what you think.

I'm my own boss, so pretty much any time i'm awake i'll be happy to join the carnage. Between around 10am and 1am CET is fine.

Starcraft is one of my favourite games. That is the campaigns ;) Both standard and brood war. Though I must confess being stuck in the Brood War Zerg campaign:p . Have tried online a few times  . Quite humiliating to be massacred by some wiz kids while still trying to establish a base

I might be interested in joining some time if you're desperate to find an extra guy. I'm mainly available at nights (CET). But not in the near future. Will unplug the PC for a week due to relocation

I must be out of the loop because I have no idea what fsgs is. Is there a problem with just playing on Battle.net?

berserker
03-16-2006, 01:13 PM
FSGS is free server emulator software. I can't play Battle.net anymore since I've borrowed my CD to someone I can't remember whom and now I don't have valid CD key to play Bnet - it's been 3 years since I've played StarCraft (until now). I guess I have to buy another CD somewhere at eBay but with shipping it could take quite some time.

My schedule flip-flops from day/night to night/day all the time, so I'm basically free all the time. And I work far too much without breaks (except checking the boards), so any time is really fine for me. As for using FSGS, I'd never heard of it, but I'd rather use that, too. My CD key has long since disappeared with all my other jewel cases and finding the manual with it written down is highly unlikely. But, if it's required, I'll see if I can dig it out of the attic... (Please don't make me do that! :) )

See? This is why bnetd would be really nice. No one here is going to go buy a second copy just to comply with the copy protection.

We can try to gather tomorrow at timeframe between 17:00 - 20:00 GMT+2.
17:00 GMT +2 is 9:00-10:00 in NY if I calculated correctly. So for US folks it will be morning and for us from Europe it will be closer to evening.

Here is the deal: connect to those server I mentioned above and register account named ig_yourindiegamername so we could identify ourselves. For example my name there will be ig_berserker
I you are about to create a game name it "indiegamer" with password "indiegamer" so noone from outside the community will distract us :)

If you have an ICQ you can message me at specified time on number 666-855

Count me in! I haven't played in a while but I used to have so much fun with the protoss carriers. I will have to reinstall it and see if it works online tough.

It seems like that the reg file doesn't work for me

Edit: It seems like that it needs the "7x Patcher" utility, which I don't like :)

I recommend everyone to add the server using Servaq Manager which can be downloaded here:

http://www.interkamp.pl/prace/strony/tomasz/files/downloads/ServerM.zip

The address of server is games.podolsk.ru

berserker

Checked it and indeed it does not work. You have to use special patcher in order to see those additional gateways.

Use this patcher to patch BroodWar to 1.13f
http://www.starcraft.7x.ru/content/files_real_down.php?fid=526
then use that reg file and you'll see additional Battle.net gateway named "Games Podolsk" added to standard "US East", "US West", "Europe", and "Asia".

Jiri, please report here if you managed to successfuly connect to that server. I don't worry about you since I saw quite a few players from CZ there but for other overseas folks I wonder if their ping will be good enough to play.

Yep, it works fine. But the patcher is really ugly, didn't work for me :)

I'm patched and ready. What time was it again?

berserker
03-19-2006, 07:29 AM
The time is now. I'm going in! :) I will stick there for a while to wait for someone from here to show up. BTW, you can message to anyone online on server by typing:
/w nickname message
even when the person is not in chat (playing some match for example)

So when you'll be online msg me:
/w ig_berserker I am online and ready

Well, we had first StarCraft IndieGamer match today. Unfortunately only me and ninjasamurai showed up but I guess it's just the beginning. We had couple of nice battles. If only we had more crowded meetup :)
So if anyone else is interested we could try to gather next weekend at the same timeframe.

Cool, glad you guys had fun! Sorry I couldn't make it to this one, but I'll try to make it to the next one :)
