Hi everyone,

In my current venture, I'm eventually going to need some "space chatter" that'll just basically contain some lines said by your avatar in the game.

you know, things like "That's gotta hurt!" "Crap they have shields!" or
"Tell momma I love her! *blam*"

It's a bit of a space shooter/arcade, so I'm hoping to figure out how to record a voice, then process it to give it that "spacey chatter" sound that we hear so often in Tie Fighter, Freespace, etc..

Before I spend a lot of time/effort on audio processing utilities to try and duplicate this effect, has anyone here had experience doing this before?

thanks,

The start and end sounds are the plopping/glitchy noises you can hear when using a radio set. The noise (10-25% volume) is added for simulating the bad sound. Low quaility for the speech stuff, because... well just because ;)

I've never done that, but that's everything you can hear there.

As oNyx said, you could always find some free filtering sw too, depending on what software you are using, a lowpass filter on the speech and ramp down the bitdepth to something really low, and low khz, I use Sound Forge for all my sounds and I have plugs to filter sounds to make them sound like radio speech etc.

Thanks for the suggestions...I'll see if I can simulate that radio quality then with some kind of SW filter/plugin..

thanks again!
