Do you occasionally venture into the Internet's shadow? Do you know how reputable the sites you browse are? siteadvisor browser plugins will tell you! Whether you use Firefox or Internet Explorer, siteadvisor will keep your browsing safe by alerting you when you wander into dangerous territory. It can even highlight search results from Google, Yahoo, and MSN! If you visit shady parts of the web, or if you have a spouse/roommate/child/friend who regularly needs spyware, adware, and viruses cleaned off their computer, siteadvisor will dramatically reduce your workload! It'll also alert you if the website is known to spam their users.
Check it out: http://www.siteadvisor.com
PS. I'm not entirely sure why that read like a marketting ploy. ;) It's just me, soniCron, and I thought this was an interesting site/service that was worthy of sharing with you folks. Enjoy! :)

Siteadvisor also tracks what your downloads change on users systems - it lists all registry and hard drive changes made by a program.
Most people probably have no reason to object, but if you use obscure registry keys to hide registration data its easy enough to find them here.

I have been using this for a while. There is a firefox extension on there which puts ticks/ crosses next to search results in google, and a little widget in the status bar which tells you about the site you are currently on. It's all very handy.

1.3 spammy e-mails/week
After entering our e-mail address on this site we received 1.3 e-mails per week. They were very spammy.
Overall it's marked as a RED. Eek! Seems like dexterity sells email addresses?

I don't think Steve would do such thing. I'm wondering how siteadvisor tests these things because such mails can come from everywhere right?...

The only way their test could be fair would be to have a seperate email address for every site they are monitoring. I'm sure they must be doing that otherwise loads of sites would be flagged.

No, just make an email for that specific site. I do it on occasion just to see if that email ends up on a spam list.

Interesting site / service. However, it's ironic to note that in order for their plug-in to work (to alert you to spyware sites) it has to send the sites that you visit (and get search results for) up to their server(s). That could be spyware by some definitions. However their privacy policy does state that they don't keep any personally identifiable info along with those list of sites. That is if you trust them. ;) I guess it all boils down to trust at some point though.
