Something is terribly wrong with Seahorse Island.

It’s about a thirty suns now since the crops and trees began to wither and die. It has been raining for what seems like an eternity, but the rain does nothing to nourish the soil. The leaves have been gone from the trees outside my office for many suns now. The trees look like twisted corpses. I don’t recall ever seeing such a sight as I do now as I write this.

Farmer Haywood has stockpiled the remaining grain, and has begun rationing it to the town. It should last us a while, but what then?

Mr. Clancy came to visit me today. He is looking for a woman--an ‘evil and manipulative creature’ is how he put it--a mainlander spy, incredibly dangerous, and should I see or hear word of her I should report to him immediately. It may be my imagination but I seem to be seeing a lot of people around town I don’t recognise lately. Out of the corner of my eye, just stood in the shadows--watching. The townsfolk seem to pay them no heed, which I find odd given their inherent xenophobic nature—or, dare I say it, am I seeing things? Has the madness that is spreading across our fair island started to affect my mind also?

The headaches are getting more frequent, my eyes burning with their intensity. I would hope it is just fatigue, but I am beginning to doubt that. Either way there is no time for rest now--I fear it is going to get much worse before it gets better.

- Dr. E. Carter

------------------------

The Forgotten Element will be released completely free of charge. This is a labour of love and we have no intention of making money from it. The full game is split as such:

Prologue
Act I
Act II
Act III

The complete three act game will be comparable in length to commercial point-and-clicks, with each part being released as and when they are completed. The prologue will feature approx 1 - 1.5 hours of gameplay.

Once the game is finished, we will also be releasing all plug-ins and ALL art assets so people can use them as they wish in their own games. Our only limitation on their use is that they not be used in commercial games.

That's a healthy (http://www.2dadventure.com/ags/Element_Talkie_Mia_02.gif) girl.

Are those natural or did she get them enhanced?

They're 120% natural :)

Is there a reason that she has to look like a porn star with a bad boob job? I mean, if it's in the design document, then I guess that's fine but it seems a questionable choice.

Her assets have been discussed an incredible amount of various other forums... all I can say is it's completely justified within the game, especially since people's first impressions of her in that screenshot somewhat mirror in-game character's preconceptions. :)

Hang on... what? This looks... this looks good...

I'm actually excited about an upcoming Indie game! Oh, happy day!

Don't screw it up or I'll hunt you down.

OK.

Did you know that my message above was too short? I have to add more characters before it will save so here they are. I wish an admin would take 2 seconds and turn that option off but I guess they feel that my adding blather to the end of my posts is a better solution.

Plus, massive jugs rock.

Seriously, looks like great stuff. Love the early-Lucasarts esque font, perfect. Shows a real appreciation for the history of the genre. Genuinely genuinely interested to see what you come up with. Now get back to work.

Will it be also a Mac version?

lemmy101
05-11-2006, 08:14 AM
I'm afraid we've not got a Mac version planned at the moment. :( Mainly as none of the developers own, or know a great deal about, Macs. We will however bear this in mind for the future.

However, we will be releasing all source art assets and dialogue scripts on our site at cgempire once the game is completed, and would aid in any way possible if someone wished to do a Mac remake... if of course it was worthy of such an honour :)

Plus, massive jugs rock.

Where are the massive jugs in Gibbage? Or are you saving that for the sequel, Boobage?

... Well, as far as we know, only *one* of the female developers on the forum has stated previous involvement in Naughty Industries... :)

(My main reaction to the picture is looking at it in confusion, weighing the physics, and thinking "I don't believe there are any shirts that DO that..." The simultaneous looseness and tightness, the actual design of the top, the bulges and folds... I don't think that's *possible*. I am not very good at drawing cloth folds myself, though. Still, if I wanted a bulging bosom like that I'd put her in a nice tight rubber nurse's uniform. Easy to find reference pics for that, too!)

My knowledge of female clothing is only slightly better than my knowledge of tachyon interactions with the subatomic components of strawberry cheesecake, but I suppose a girl with a chest like that gets her clothes specially tailored. She might have no choice.

well, I was more astound to see a nipple that seems to be around 3cm long (if you follow the bust line on the left side, you'll see that the tip of the "shirt-tent" is pretty far away from that curve...

Well, they do make shirts with fake built-in nipples.

... Or so I've heard. :P

(Offtopic, ho!)

Anyway, my point is, it doesn't upset me or say anything negative about the game to me. I like adventures and will be interested when done. :)

Hmmm. Good point. There were some at one point, but I took them out.

There's this though: Off Topic Completely. (http://gibbage.blogspot.com/2006/04/did-you-know.html)

:D I don't particularly want to over-analyse what I've drawn, but that curve was supposed to represent the bump where the breast is being pulled in by the shirt, and therefore the nipple is not far from where the part of the breast which is hidden by the shirt.

However, this is not the first time that this has been pointed out so maybe it isn't as obvious as it could be. There'll be a pass over all the art before the game comes out so maybe I'll address it then.

Cheers for the feedback!

Cool looking game! Just curious, the screenshots seem to all be 320x200 res. Is that also the ingame resolution? Quite the dare if it is, with 2006+ being all about media now days. ;)

Hi dxgame thanks for the kind words :) indeed the game is in 320x200, the reasons are numerous, but mainly

1) 320x200 has a great deal of nostalgic value to us both, and to many point-and-click fans.

2) It would take four times as long to do 640x480 graphics, the game is quite epic in size as it is, so we'd never get it finished...

3) It's free, we're not trying to sell it, so we're less concerned with target demographics or certain people not playing it as it's too low res. For a start people are a lot more likely to try something that's free anyway.

:)

cheers!

Dan Marshall over at gibbage.co.uk for some reason deemed us worthy of an interview! You can read it by following this link:

http://gibbage.co.uk/Interviews/

(While you're there, I also highly recommend you download the demo of Gibbage and give it a blast-- It's awesome! One of the best indie games out there IMO and worth much more than the pittance Dan's asking for it. :D)

Thanks all!

Just be sure and give her even bigger tits!

Sorry, but you'll notice I don't go much for this political correctness crap. If you want to draw a guy with a 24" whang, then that's fine with me too!
