We just released our latest title Lovechess Age of Egypt, probably not completely safe for work. So be sure your boss is not standing behind ya :-)

Lovechess website (http://www.lovechess.nl)

It took us about 1,5 years to complete. Especially the online/LAN playing part was a hard job to achieve.

A while ago there was a thread on this forum about game portals and one member offering a service to submit your software.
If he's not reading this post, can someone point me in the right direction?

No demo download?

No we dicided to not release a demo this time, the Greek Era has a demo though.

As a mod, this is a tough topic, because of the subject matter. But I will leave it and treat it as any other downloadable.

I think I would never offer a demo of this game. We all know why people are interested in the game, and it isn't to play chess. So why even give them anything when it's probably powerful enough to convince them to buy straight away?

We tried a demo the first time, could be downloaded over 1,5 mil times. But it had some minuses, like a lot of support questions, like the demo does not work on my laptop etc.. besides we had to do something about minors that could easily download the demo.

I agree that no demo is very good decision. I really don't wanna play chess, but I am still tempted to see how it looks in action ... and you know we most want what we can't get.......................... unless we buy ;) .... where is my credit card. (joking).

This is usually a good reason *to* offer a demo. Otherwise, you get the support question plus a demand for a refund or chargeback when they only find out it doesn't work after paying. :)

When I first saw "Lovechess" I thought it said "Lovechest". So I thought it was porn. Then I realized it was actually "chess" and thought "whoops, it's a chess game". Then I click on the link and I see porn. My head is spinning now.

Thumbs up for not using poser models, btw. That puts you in a league above all the other adult games!

If you never wore parachute pants or a jacket with dozens of zippers on it you probably don't get the joke.

The song is about Chess though.

And thank God I'm only watching the game ... controlling it.

Yeah, I get the picture. ;)

Oh, for Pete's sakes.

You're both right--the song, "One Night In Bangkok" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/One_Night_In_Bangkok), was a pop hit in the early 80s as performed by Murray Head. It was also from the musical Chess (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chess_%28musical%29), though the song was a radio hit about two years before the musical premiered.

The song is about some kinky residents of Bangkok trying to seduce a chess master. However, he is above such temptations of the flesh; he just wants to play chess. My citing that line was a brilliant flash of comedy insight, and you should all get down on your hands and knees and thank me for sharing it with you.

Harrumph!

It's not porn :-) well at least not in our opinion, its more funny mixture of a serious game and ehhh... sex in an kinky way. Porn is in my view more raunchy, if you know what I mean. We like this niche to work in, the way people react to the game mostly positively, and about half of our buyers is female :-) so, cant be porn :-)

I'm the creative of the game and I want the models to have more expression, personaly I think the poser models are to plastic, to mainstream. Besides modelling is actually a fun job, especially in our games.

Are you sure about this one vjvj? I'd call them plain Poser stuff.

Pardon! Can't comment on the game itself - chess isn't my game. :D

hmm, maybe you should look again.... all models are modelled from ground up by me...

Maybe strange, but somehow now I feel offended, could be wrong to post about Lovechess over here, not sure.

eh, you have as much right as anyone else although you probably won't get much usefull feedback because of lack of a demo and I'm not sure if anyone here actually understands how the adult industry works

you should actually go and check out this board http://www.gofuckyourself.com
it's an adult webmaster forum, maybe some people there can help you out...

Yeah, if you're only going to show us a web site and some screenshots I'm not sure what kind of useful feedback you're hoping for.

I was basically looking for the submission service to software directiories :-) And also though why not post our latest game, although I read this forum quite alot, I did not post much before.

Indie game developers are not limited to puzzle games alone right, there are quite some independend studios making games of an erotic nature. They have the same questions/problems/oppertunities as all the others, and like to share, talk, discuss these aspects just the same. Sure some fun about these kind a games is obviously ok, I like that and I'm used to it, so that's no problem. It's more the easy shooting, or reactions like this one:

Like I'm lying about creating the moddeling work myself, that's a tone I personally dont like that much, but no problem I'm all grown up and get over it

Oh, Hans! Please! I wasn't meaning anything bad!
Pardon! My fault. They just look too similar to Poser models. And I really don't think this is so bad.
REM: The problem of Poser appears when somebody who has no any experience start to use it a lot. :)

You should consider offering your game to adult movies producers. Instead of showing 3D models you insert scenes with their real actors. Would probably be big extra money for you and no competition with your existing audience.

Hi Don,

We have been contacted by a big adult publisher to do nearly what you discribe, we declined. How strange it may seems we draw the line at erotic. I know its a small line we are walking on, but all the things we do on the Art of Love or with our games are within what we concider tasteful and fun.

I think the success of the Art of Love ( 25.000 uniques a day ) is just that, no hard stuff, but engaging, sexual, funny or even artistic.

The fact that we are in between things, does makes it sometimes hard to distribute our stuff. The 'real' porn market is to hard for our games, and the regular market thinks of it as not suitable.
