i recently purchased an hosting plan on godaddy for a friend and i now understand why it was twice cheaper than the hosting account i got for myself with another provider.

the control panel is so confusing more than 80% of the options are links to make you spend more money :(

its so cluttered with adds you almost have to see it to believe. A big 0 for fonctionality

plus there was a 7$ billing error because of the confusing purchase page , i asked for a refund by email for that 7$ but they said they could not help me... when i made a long distance call they helped me right away... :( making me spend 7$ in long distance call to get a 7$ refund i was due is not good...

its cheaper and you get more, but prepare to sacrifice some functionality. It certainly feels like "discount hosting "

I bought some names with godaddy and have been happy. I stayed away from actual hosting with them though as I had read some negative things. So - GoDaddy for "full control" over my domain names, Dreamhost (at the moment) for hosting. Seriously though, I haven't seen one hosting provider that has NO negative feedback/reviews - it's a minefield just sorting through the rubbish trying to get a valid review of a host.

I haven't had a problem with it, but I don't ask much from them...domain and some space. Just hosting my portfolio, my demos and it's been invaluable to be able to upload instant updates for clients.

But that's just general hosting and FTP stuff...of which it seems to work fine!

Support has always been nice to me (so far...)

yeah support over the phone was good... maybe i was spoiled by the control panel and overall clarity of http://www.lunarpages.com/

this is very intuitive and easy to use even if powerfull + no adds

I'm using Godaddy for both domain&host for some freelance work programming a website app using ASP & SQL Server for about 4 months now.

I must say that while the website is FULL with advertisments and the control panel isn't so clear - I had no real problem setting up / debugging / managing the website. Also, there were no (un)usual hosting problems so far (downtime, server prob., ect.).

Then again, the fact that its working doesn't make up for the overly-cluttered UI. I feel like walking into a spyware each time I use it.

I use GoDaddy for all my domain registrations (about 28 domains), and I love them. I have heard that their web hosting is terrible, but I've never tried it - partially because I've required a dedicated server for my sites for the last two years (I now have two for the last few months).

I recently registered a new .com domain with GoDaddy and was surprised that the same name in .org got registered exactly the next day with GoDaddy as the owner. Now someone may have registered it as a hidden owner then GoDaddy was listed in their place, but I think GoDaddy might have done it to sell later.

I also agree that there user interface is way-too complex. It looks like it was written by a bunch programmers or something ;)

there seem to be a lot of hidden fees ,half truths and misleading offers too :(

today i tried transfering a domain... i only need this service for a year but at the very last second i realised they had it "recuring" so my credit card would be charged every year until it gets expired i guess. Never did i saw where to turn off recuring charges paiments even going back to look for it ! :( its like a quest against extra charges when you are getting something from them.

edit : just found it :(

yeah they auction domains.

Actually godaddy is a reseller host, and those are always weak. I use them for DNS stuff but nothing else.

You should really use zeonfx.com

They moved all my stuff over for me, they called me when they were done, and they have had better customer service then ANY hosting service I've ever used. They alwsays respond within an hour or so, and they always make sure that my site is doing OK. I give them an 11/10.

Since they've been in business since 1993, and because they have outstanding customer service and they arent resellers, they're really good.
