I am interested in finding out which media agency are considered to have the largest market share. I'm talking advertising network capabilites and content served.

I've found two that appear to be used by some major portals, are there a lot more? who in your considered opinion is the market leader?

The two I am looking at currently are :-

Thanks,

Tim.

You should also check out FastClick - http://www.fastclick.com

CasaleMedia and FastClick are considered the best for those running small to medium sized sites.

Also do a google search on "Advertising Network Reviews" and you'll get plenty of reviews and info. How well some of these networks serve Ads is also dependent on your type of traffic and content and what campaigns they have available. So your results will vary from other people even with the top networks.

Thanks Chris,

Tell me, do you have experience of these organisations? I have a particular need which I would like some advice on. I would be looking for an organisation that have a great deal of scaleability and stability.

Thanks again, Tim.

There's a few other places you can try as well.

Commision Junction - http://www.cj.com/
Tribal Fusion - http://tribalfusion.com/ - requires atleast 2000 uniques per day
Burst Media - http://burstmedia.com/

I've never used any of them though, so can't say how good they are.

I currently use CasaleMedia and FastClick to serve Ads on my web game pages. Right now I'm getting a better fill-rate* with CasaleMedia but I've heard other webmasters do just as well or better with FastClick. If you have some decent traffic, I say give those two networks a try and then experiment with both to find the best fit.

Once you get bigger, you can give Tribal Fusion a try. Though they're known to be pretty selective. But I've heard a lot of good things about them if you get accepted. I don't have any personal experience with them.

All the above networks are very stable and offer good real-time reporting. They regularly deal with large sites, so I wouldn't worry too much about scalability. If you plan to become a huge traffic monster you can always contact the network and see if their service is capable of handling the load.

*Often times you'll want to use multiple ad networks because rarely will one network fill 100% of your inventory. For example, just because you have 10,000 pageviews doesn't mean you'll get paid for every single one. It depends where your traffic comes from and what Ad campaigns the networks can match it up with. If you're getting a lot of traffic from eastern Europe or Asia, then you'll probably have a low fill-rate. However if you have a high percentage of US or UK visitors, then you'll get a better fill-rate and usually better CPM.
