I just received an email from a IT company from india about getting permission to include (The prodigious escapee deluxe) on their CD-ROM. Would anyone here be kind to advise how should i deal with situation such as this (eg: what's the price range that i should offer ?? ) ? Does anyone here have any experience with Cyber Media (India) Limited ?

<<Dear Sir/Ma'am

I am writing on behalf of my client, Educare Enrichment(S) Pte Ltd, publishers of Quest magazine. Quest is an educative, inspirational and entertaining magazine for 9-14 yr old children. Along with the publication, a complementary CD-ROM is also distributed. It carries interactive and edutainment software.

I would like your permission to include [The prodigious Escapee Deluxe Edition 1.52] on the Quest CD-ROM.

The CD-ROM is created for the magazine by my organization, CyberMedia, India’s leading IT and technology media house. To learn more about CyberMedia please visit http://cybermedia.co.in.

You have our assurance that the content of the software will in no way be modified. All rights to the software will remain with you. What we seek is a one-time distribution right of your software on the CD-ROM. All software on our CDs are distributed as-it-is without any modification on our part and all original licenses and copyright information are maintained. All rights to the software will remain with you. (What we seek is a one-time distribution right of your software on our CD)

Hoping to hear soon from you end.

Best wishes,

what's the price range that i should offer ??
I may be wrong, but it does sound like they just want to distribute your trial/demo version (for free).

We've been contacted by them in the past and we gave them permission to use the trial versions of Coin World/Coin Planets on their CD. As Norbyte says I think they're only talking about the trial version of your software and not the full version.

Ask them if they mean trial or full version. (although that email sounds like a trial version to me too...)

If full version - let them suggest a price.

I've been contacted by them the same way, some months ago. They are actually looking for demos to include on their CD and are effectively targeted to children.
I granted them the permission to distribute the MinuteMatch demo and politely asked them to send a copy of the magazine which I received. BTW the envelope I got containing the magazine is lined with a piece of fabric. Surprising and cute, it's the first time I receive mail from India.
The CD which came along the magazine contains demo files. They also include a .txt file describing briefly each game and giving proper credit.

Conclusion: There's absolutely no point in being mistrustful here. :)

Great idea :) I granted permission too, but didn't think about asking a copy. I'll do that the next time.
