After researching the BMT, Plimus and RegNow sloutions for accepting payments, i have decided that they all have their good and bad points. For a $19.95 game i'll end up paying about $2 a sale. However before i sign up i was wondering if anybody is using the PayPal Website Payments Standard system as their sole credit card processing method.

The system appears to be simple enough with non-PayPal users not even having to sign up to pay by Credit Card. The rates are very attractive but I am curious why no one else is using this system by itself.

I've heard snippets of conversations where some "eastern european countries can't use paypal" and "PayPal is an insincere payment system" etc. But for a casual games startup requiring just a payment system, without a need at the moment for affiliate sales (i can switch to BMT when i'm ready), what is wrong with just using the PayPal Website payments System (https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_merchant-outside) ?

Thanks

I started out using just PayPal, but added BMT later on and I suggest you start with them both or you'll lose some sales.

I recommend supported more than just paypal too.

BTW, when I was researching this a little while ago, Paypal required people outside of the US to have a paypal account in order to pay with their credit card. When Paypal touted "No signup required" they were referring to US customers. People in the UK for example had to create a paypal account in order to pay with their credit card. That said, I've been pretty pleased with paypal.
