Interesting site wants to organize information about "badware" -- that is, spyware, adware, and the like. They're going to create a set of guidelines, testing procedures, and compile a list of organizations and applications that utilize badware. Right now, there isn't much more than a promising (read: lacking) website, but this could shape up to be a decisive call to arms. It's being spearheaded by Harvard’s Berkman Center and the Oxford Internet Institute. You can find out more by reading the badware faq (http://stopbadware.org/home/faq).

They'll probably end up being sued by the likes of gator and the rest. That's what they do, they sue you if you accuse their product of being spyware!

More power to them!

I knew that stuff was bad until I got a rougue spyware infection. Most removed by spybot & adaware. Some PURE EVIL called "a better internet" did everything it could to re-install itself and some other crap. Plus seaching for "remove <spywarename>" lead to sites posing as legit pay for removal tools, which another google revealed was that same company installing even more spyware!

There's been a huge explosion in con artists with the Feds concentrating almost exclusively on terrorists, seriously. TV is full of them, the internet is full of them, etc. Give con artists the death penalty. Where's a Texas politician when you need one?! Doh... busy getting pockets lined.
