Did you make your website by yourself, or did you hire someone to do it?

I made mine myself. Take a look at it if you don't believe it.

I hired someone to do the graphics and he did the basic layout html code for free :)
I did the contact email form and some of the behind the scenes stuff,
I maintain it and make any updates.

Just like everything else in my life... ever.. I did it myself. And it probably shows.. but I am working on a new one (learning more about best web practices and SEO while coding a game certainly keeps your mind active! ;) )

Really nice, Sharpfish! Did you create the graphics as well?

Just do upkeeping like most people...

Really nice, Sharpfish! Did you create the graphics as well?
Yeah I did.. But I mean to change it soon as it's a bit graphics heavy (and possibly a bit OTT in colour scheme for everyone's tastes) ;)

For ours, our graphics guy did the design and I wrote the html/css/php

Did ours myself.. hopefully there will be time one day to make it more contemporary, up to date, content rich and dynamic. :p

Did it myself and am currently working on version 2.
The first version was done with very limited knowledge. The second version is being done with slightly less limited knowledge ;)

Another own webpage here. The graphics are pretty minimal, but there's a decent ammount of php running things behind the scenes (mostly the online high scores).

We also made our pages, but they are based on phpbb for the forum stuff. So it was mostly a matter of hacking together a new template and make some custom php for the frontpage and screenshots. I will be adding some more when I get the time for it.
All in all i think it is quite good to make your own pages and since you should keep em updated you probably need to know how the work. And since you probably don't want to spend your time on making web-stuff that has already been made you could base your pages on some open source project.

Self-made, although I asked permission to use someone else's art...

My website is still being developed, but it's all mine (though the HTML I based it on was borrowed - I can never remember all those tags).
I can say that Bytten is (as far as I know) entirely the work of Mark Sheeky. I had a voice regarding basic design but I never had to use it! The man knows his art...

Yeah, i am developing mine as well, though i will probably need to hire an artist - art is really not my thing. I have spent way too much time on my website though - time i should've spent on my game.

Programmer art, lack of content and shoddy backend code... of course I did it myself, ashamedly :)

The biggest part was made by my co-worker. Now we're always trying to improve it in different areas, the most important one being flexibility. Then our website will be more dynamic, easier to handle too.
I recently discovered something really amazing (http://www.csszengarden.com/) about webdesign using CSSs. Might be useful in the future.;)

Design and layout was done by myself. Used Drupal, which I love. And the art was provided by Daydream.

Both design and development by myself. The technical aspects of it are not hard, provided you're technically minded. But the graphic design aspects are more important - you should get a web graphic designer involved or at least do some research into graphic design and observe the top sites to see how they implement their clean uncluttered designs and colour schemes.

mooktown.com (http://www.mooktown.com) all done by me, took about a week but it was worth it as im really happy with the way it turned out. i shamelessly cloned the basic layout of the top navigation area and the general feel from sproutgames.com

I put together www.casualgamesarcade.com myself. A friend, Pete Mullins, made the Casual Games Arcade logo. It's basic, but its functional.

Done by me, although I'm meaning to smarten it up a bit sometime. It's my only ever attempt at making a website, and it was a quick job with notepad and the bare minimum of looking at a "So, you want to learn HTML" website. And a tiny, tiny peek at a "So, you want to learn PHP" one.

Mines entirely my fault, although my day job is as a web designer & flash developer so I have a small advantage over the average indie.
That's not to say it's perfect though - far from it. I have a long list of improvements and tweaks to make.

I do it all myself too. I had to teach myself PHP, MySQL and HTML to do it but it was worth the effort.

Mine is a self-made PHP + HTML site. Like Anlino mentioned the site-coding tends to consume more time than initially expected  .
On the other side it would be easy to set many hours a day free by ceasing to 'waste' time on these forums ;) .
I have spent way too much time on my website though - time i should've spent on my game.

Some really nice websites listed here - and i feel the weight on my shoulders ;) Though i have a pretty good idea on how it should look now, probably start with it tomorrow.
I hired out the logo and top nav, the layout and code are mine.
We've got our own WebWizard on board. Our lovely Sam is busy with our website only ( in the company I mean because he makes amount of another good things as well ). But results are exciting really. That's the whole system behind the scene and it required huge efforts from him. Take a look on a control panel. This should give you the idea how powerful it is:
WildSnake website - Control Panel (http://www.wildsnake.com/image/promo/hh/website_control.gif)
One day we are planning to propose it for usage by another companies as well. So don't hesitate to contact us if you are interested (hint-hint) :)

I did my website myself. The logo and title was done by someone else though. I think it looks quite good, not sure if others agree as I haven't had any feedback yet. :o

Yup, did it myownself. I wish I had designed it to be a bit more expandable, though - it's kind of a pain to add new pages. Sigh.

I'm working on it since 3 or 4 month, the 3th or 4rd version ... and I had learn html, css, javascript, php and recently mysql from almost 0, I work in parallalel with the game so the task changing skips me from boring and stress ...

Aye, I do all my own stuff.
Red Marble Games
01-23-2006, 02:09 PM
All me except for the Red Marble Games logo, which I had done professionally through a designer I found at eLance.
I'm thinking about changing this, though, and having someone redo the site for me. I have to think a more professional-looking site inspires greater confidence in potential purchasers, though there is a lot of contrary evidence ...

Don't worry Greig. Your site is good (IMHO). Informative, easy to navigate and nicely designed. Keep up the good work

Just finished making mine myself, it's not even live yet. Wanted to keep it simple because I know what a pain it can be maintaining them later.

I did it myself. It still looks similar to the initial version but has gradually evolved over time. Check out this thread to have a look at old versions of some member's websites:

I did all of mine (graphics, code, etc), but it's still a basic WIP (just to get something up) that I won't finish until my game is done and I'm in limbo mode waiting for portal feedback. I plan on putting my graphics tablet and a good CSS book to use :)

Sprite attack Chris donated the FunPCGame logo for me to keep my indie "creative spirit" alive :p . I made the lines , "designed" the layout with all the skills that i have , and picked the best color for FunPCGames (http://www.funpcgame.com) . THe rest of the game logos and screenshots are all made by you all .....;)

I created mine myself, including the logos, but it's taken a few iterations to get it to the point where I'm really happy with it. Hopefully I can concentrate on the game development now...

Wow , Vorax , kumari kandum looks very very impressive... it seems that the bar for Zuma-type match 3 genre will probably be set 3 miles higher after the release of Kumari ......
