Alawar Entertainment has released Pacadou, a new enticement for Pac-Man fans. Like the arcade classic from which Pacadou draws inspiration, players guide a rotund hero through various mazes, eating dots, avoiding ghosts and doing their best to live to chomp another day. Several new gameplay elements offer a twist on Namco’s timeless masterpiece, however, including bridges that become impassable after Pacadou crosses over them once, keys that open locked doors and coins that can be cashed in on extra lives.
The ghosts in Pacadou are as persistent as ever. Fortunately, several bonus items are available for keeping them at bay, including clocks that reduce the speed of the monsters for a short period of time and daggers that allow Pacadou to turn the tables on his enemies and gobble them down instead. The hero can also swallow gems that temporarily freeze the ghosts.
Pacadou offers three difficulty modes that accommodate a broad range of skill and experience. Additionally, the game can be run full screen or in a window. 3D rendered animation, sound effects that beg to be played loud and music that recalls the glory days of arcades round out the package.
