Hey,
How much web space and data transfer do you guys use for your web sites?
I'd like to know where to pitch my web hosting... my top account has 2000MB web space and 20GB of data transfer monthly.
>>> SpidaHost.com (http://www.spidahost.com) (Launches Monday 16th.)
Regards,
Josh.

I've averaged about 130gb/month transfer over the last 6 months. I'm using 8 gigabytes of disk.
I got by on 30gb/month transfer for my first year, but you might want to look around a little more. There are several hosting providers offering +100gb/month transfer for around $10/month.

You're using 8GB? Or do you have 8GB to use? Maybe I am just naive, but that sounds like a lot of space to take up on your server. What do you store up there, if you don't mind my asking.

Here's the best offer I've seen in a long time: 20GB / 1TB for $10:

I've seen positive testimonials in a few places, too.

Using 8gb.
That is mainly from forum messages, I believe. There's also about 8000 user-created rooms up there. And then every time somebody plays a room and beats it, we store a demo file of their recorded moves on the server.

I should warn you companies often don't have the capacity to provide 8TB of data transfer a month for every account they host, they offer it knowing that 99.99% of people will never user 8TB but when somebody does (often spammers or similar) they can't cope with it and everybody suffers.

You mean you're not doing this? It's not an evil thing to do you know, it's just resource optimization, you can be sure that most of your users won't top their bandwidth allowance, so you'll have wasted your bandwidth if you had it assigned to them. You could probably be advertizing 100GB monthly transfer and get more clients, and the more clients you get, the more likely someone won't use his bandwidth, and so on. Banks and many other business do this too, the bank doesn't have all the money right there ready in case all their clients withdraw the same day, they just estimate how much money the people are going to take out that day and that's all they keep in.
