(It's already 2006 people, time to start working for those goals...)
I'm making a game that will feature the whole planet Earth, I already have the continents, the largest islands, and the largest lakes and seas. Now i'm trying to come up with a list of 100 terrain features to manually add to the game, stuff like vulcanos, medium sized lakes, rivers, mountains, waterfalls, canyons, or other relevant features. I cannot put small islands nor caves for gameplay reasons. So far I have (some are spanish names):
Vulcanos: Mt. St. Helens, Vesubio, Popocatepl
Ayers Rock
Rivers: Nile, Danube, Indo, Mississipi, Amazonas, Ganges, Volga, Tamesis
Mountains: Rocky, Alpes, Andes, Himalaya, Ural
Plus three lakes and 10 vulcanoes from my country
Can you help me complete the list, just post places from all over the world that you know or like and i'll look 'em up later. Thanks.

How 'bout Kilimanjaro (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kilimanjaro) - highest mountain in Africa. Located in Tanzania (link is to Wikipedia).

It rises like Olympus above the Serengetti, apparently.
Death Valley
The Dead Sea
The Ross Ice Shelf
Victoria Falls
Niagra Falls
Great Barrier Reef
Gobi Desert
Sahara Desert
That's it. That's all the places on earth. :)

Carpathians? :)
It rises like Olympus above the Serengetti, apparently.I always thought it rose like an empress.
Ayers RockApparently it's not very PC to call it that anymore. You may want to use Uluru instead as not possibly to offend anyone.

Apparently it's not very PC to call it that anymore. You may want to use Uluru instead as not possibly to offend anyone. It's good to know this, though I was recently thinking that I don't need to put the names of things inside the game, that would eliminate this kind of problems.
Thanks people, keep 'em coming.

Take a look at the arcade game Pang.
It uses famous spots as backgrounds.

What about Norway's Fiords (sp?)
And a bit OT, but how about adding Atlantis as an easter egg? it can grow from the water, turn to a volcano and then disappear...

how about adding Atlantis as an easter egg? it can grow from the water, turn to a volcano and then disappear...Now this is a great idea, I was looking for islands to fill the empty space between America and Europe, this will fit nicely. Now I wish there was something to put West of South America... it's empty all the way to New Zeland.

How about Polynesia for the east of New Zealand? It's a string of islands with Tahiti, Easter Island and what not in there.

Well the problem is that my game should run at 640x480 resolution, so I cannot put islands smaller than 4 pixels in the world map at that resolution, that is, islands smaller than hawaii.

Close Encounters of the Third Kind. I've done this with my own mashed potatoes as well.
