Software Engineer

Oberon Games Studio develops top-of-the-line casual games. Our mission is to create game worlds and characters that appeal to everyday people, regardless of their familiarity with the game industry. Our games are played all over the world, and can be found on leading casual games sites like MSN's Zone.com, Pogo.com, and Yahoo! We're an experienced, driven, and professional team, dedicated to having fun while producing the best games in the industry. Our production cycles are typically 3-6 months long, so new and interesting projects are always in development. Our teams are also very small, so you will be playing a major role in anything you do here.
We're looking for an outstanding Software Engineer who can help us develop our exciting upcoming single and multiplayer titles.

Responsibilities
• Work as part of a small in-house team, and as part of a larger distributed team.
• Develop on and maintain our scalable client/server infrastructure for casual multiplayer games.
• Develop on and maintain our high performance casual games engine.
• Provide systems engineering support for our game engineers across a variety of projects and technologies (optimize, research, investigate, etc.).
• Develop new platforms and components, such as matchmaking services, data-analysis, and administrative tools.
• Develop and maintain other in-house projects and tools.

Qualifications
• Have strong analytical and technological skills, and an ability to quickly learn new API's, solve problems using documentation, the Internet, tech support.
• Possess an ability to find alternate solutions or workarounds for non-supported or poorly supported features when using 3rd party tools is essential.
• Be experienced with C++ and C# (or other managed environment), DirectX, Win32, Win64.
• Be an independent worker. We believe in giving professionals the space they need to do their best!
• Have highly developed written and verbal communication skills. Must communicate ideas easily to the entire team including artists, designers, and offsite contacts.
• Understand the importance of proper software development processes in a team environment such as: meeting deadlines, creating solid detail-oriented code, performing bug and task tracking, and working on a distributed team.
• 3-5 years of game or other related industry experience is preferred.

Compensation
Salary is commensurate with the responsibility of the role and the candidate's experience. We offer a generous vacation plan, as well as a bonus plan and stock options. Full medical, dental and 401K retirement benefits are included.
