I'm in need of 64x64 weird spacey or sci-fi space alien ships and alien anamolies. I'll need 20 of them! I'm just looking for quotes and will not hire anyone until after January 1st of '06. Please send me a quote as a PM here on indiegamer or post it in this thread if you want to advertise your rates! I will be hiring SOMEONE January 1st, thats all I know.

Portfolio will be needed so please send a link to examples of your stuff. This is the game that needs the gfx so far: http://www.blitzmax.com/logs/userlog.php?user=8967&log=586 (scroll down a bit to see the screenies)

Way I see it, if I can get more sprites, then I may have a sell-able game afterall!

Are you looking for 20 static sprites, or twenty animated sprites? If they're animated, how many frames per sprite would you be looking for?

Thanks for reply, I am looking for 20 static sprites. I have hired citizen insane to do 20 statics already, but I am hiring multiple artists for this project. So far I have hired two artists (each doing 20) and am willing to hire as many as I can afford. THe more sprites the better. Also, I am not askign for specifics. The art just has to be in .png format and the sprites need to be transparent and facing downward.

Artists are encouraged to be creatrive and make whatever they want, as I will be satisfied with any style of enemies because the game will feature many different worlds with various themes and I am not picky at all. All artists will be allowed to use my game on their portfolio and also will be listed in the credits page. So far I have hired 3 artists(Rob is done, Rich and Adam are currently working) and will hire more.

If you are interested in work, please email me at admin@mattmcfarland.com or pm me here. I look forward to hearing from everyone who has experience in the art field and willing to negotiate prices.

Just a question (not saying I will take it, though am a 3d and pixel artist) :

You want 20 alien ships. But I see in that shot that the ships do rotate... Well, in my knowledge, that means rotation of the sprite for the artist(or do you rotate by code?)...if done as pixel artwork (as I'd do as am faster there, and ends up nice) rotations are a bit more problematic, much more work, and depending on the wished number of angles, it can be quite more interesting then to be done in 3d. But I do way faster 20 sprites than twenty 3d space ships, even untextured, and after all would be needed the magic 2d touch...

Also, you have that 1st of january..would that mean that you'd pick possibly someone's work that reached you at the end but didn't ensure the task? Well, that's a silly question. I mean, I may make a bunch of ships...If when I reach you, there's quite filled the need, or don't get u in time...I'l simply add it to a 2d pack I may release in the future...I have stopped all idea of doing work for people while I keep being in my today's game job. Maybe in the future I'll anounce when I am really available(full time freelance). But stuff like this I may do. Or just packs done at my pace.

Ok first, no I just need one image of the sprite facing down in png format with a transparent backround. BlitzMax allows you to fully rotate and scale images with mipmapping and alphablending ;)

Second, if you and I agree on a price, then I WILL USE YOUR WORK! I plan on using ALL the work for everyone hired! I am purchasing the IP of the work, and also guaranteeing that work will be ready come January should someone agree to it early (as Adam has). I will give the artist credit, though.

Ok, it sounds way better. And is doable in that time, am a bit faster in pixel artwork than in any other task, and for me is to be done so as no rotations! :) . I'll PM you when back from work to speak bout quotes :)
