The discussion about FunPCGame's logo, and my earlier attempt at an 18giants.com logo, have made me think about making logos in general.
Then I was watching some anime show, which had a kinda-circular logo, like so:

And I thought, "Hey, I could randomly generate logos like that!" One of the benefits of procedurally generating such a logo would be that it ain't much harder to generate the complex movement of the logo parts, for an animated version.
I showed the logo to my wife, and told her what I was thinking. She said that the logo above was simply ugly, and I shouldn't waste my time. What do YOU think?

It's ugly...
you should try running a contest like Phil and Retro64 did.
For getting oneself a nice new corporate identity... I'd pass -- BUT... procedurally generated logos (or really... procedurally generating anything that isn't normally) would be of great interest to me on a personal level... so feel free to post any progress you see towards that end! :D

For human aided procedural generation... see photoshop.
Notice how lots of designs out of each different program looks similar? Indesign, photoshop etc.

Still don't know why my rather excellent R64 logo (http://www.arcadetown.com/i/retro64_logo.jpg) didn't win Mike's contest
For real though... a logo should be dirt simple with clear easy to read letters that burn the name into your brain. The above example doesn't do it.
Our HeavyGames logo (http://www.heavygames.com/i/hglogo2.gif) is probably logo I've been most happy with ever. Simple, cartoony, big clear letters, and a personal character that re-enforces it. Would you believe combined we probably spent atleast 20 hours on it?

This is good feedback about ways to make logos, but you guys are missing my point.
I like making procedurally generated things. When I saw the anime logo, I sez to myself, "Self, you could probably write some code that makes such a logo". So I'm wondering, should I bother? Would such a program be useful?
It might not be terribly "useful" but if you can prove it works then you can probably sell some copies at a decent price if you really want to. Not everything has to be about sales - you can (and should) program just for fun.
