What are people usually using around here for their sound editing purposes? I've googled a few, but was hoping to get an idea of what indies "actually" used...;)
thanks!

Right now, I just discovered Audacity which is pretty good for the price. I also use FLStudio and Code-it software's Wave Editor, which I really only use for converting between one wav format and another.

I use Buzzmachines (and a whole pile of vst plugins) and Audacity.

Well the best one for me was always cooledit. But since I got my copy of cooledit2k adobe bought them and it's now adobe soundforge or something like that. Im not sure how that's affected the quality or price as I never upgraded.
I use a bunch of tools.
-Creative wave studio (came with my soundcard) for precise cutting.
-An old cheap (~10€ or so) aranger programm for mixing.
-Orion basic for soft snyth stuff and/or music (cover cd so ~5€)
And some other small/free tools like Stomper or OggdropXPd. So... nothing special, but it's good enough for me right now.

Ill give another shout out for audacity though. Like most open source stuff its all broken in many ways, but for the price (free) it's quite decent.

I use GoldWave (www.goldwave.com), a nice Canuckistanese sound editing app for Windows (from Newfoundland !! ;)) and Audacity (audacity.sourceforge.net) for sound editing.

I use Sound Forge 7.0 (http://mediasoftware.sonypictures.com/products/soundforgefamily.asp) for most of my sound editing. I occassionally throw sounds into Acid Pro 4.0 (http://mediasoftware.sonypictures.com/products/acidfamily.asp) which is flexible for layering sounds together. I also use Acid to compose my game music.

CoolEdit became Adobe Audition. I've used it a bit and I think it's slightly improved in small ways but overall it's basically the same product. It's still my favorite sound editing tool. Audacity is certainly cool for free software but Audition has boatloads more features.

thanks all, I'll check them out...
I had found Goldwave, but I'll also give Audition a roll....even if it is Adobe. :)

Sound Forge is the best sound editing program I've ever used. It does however come with quite a price tag now that Sony bought Sonic Foundry. Before, you were able to choose between Sound Forge Studio and Sound Forge Pro. I have Sound Forge Studio 6, which cost me around $70. Sadly, Sound Forge comes only in the expensive form now ($400).
