I've had a game on my website for a little while called Bugged Out. I'm thinking of developing it a bit more into a game I could release as shareware but I'd appreciate any comments on it first.

It's a grow and develop type game where you have to care for your bugs so they can breed and dig up gems. You use the gems to buy stuff.

I'll take a quick look, but you should bare in mind there is a game called 'Bugged Out Rally', so you might wanna change the name.

At first this game bored the living hell out of me. Simply because in the first level the some total of the gameplay involved clicking on diamonds that appeared once every 10-30 seconds and then clicking on a button once I had gotten 15. Then repeating this process 3 times. It was a real chore for me to get through the first level.
The second level looked much more promising, with the ability to give the bugs things to do, like collect food and mine. I played at it for a while and it was much better than the previous level but still not great.
I have a feeling this game gets much better later on, but these early levels are so basic that it just makes the game seem boring. I would shorten these levels by a large margin. Other than that your visuals really need a complete overhaul if you want to sell it. The game looks really empty, so you need to add lots of little things to make it come to life (textured ground, terrain features etc).
It looks like it could be good with a little work, but at the moment it's not that fun.

I agree with what Nexic said.
The first few levels are too long - you could make the coins cost less on the very beginning to give the player a quicker start, the graphics are quite poor and there was no sound at all (perhaps it's something with my system??)... Even with such drawbacks, the game got me playing up till level 5. The spider got me frustrated then, because I had big problems pulling his legs out and he ate almost all of my bugs... :(
I think the game has potential, but I also think it requires a serious amount of polish if you want it to be successful. The gameplay reminded me of Insaniquarium from PopCap - check it out if you haven't seen it already to find out what could be done to make the game more dynamic and attractive.
game crashes for me, sounds good, game =284k? and it does all that?

Thanks, guys. Making the first few levels go a bit quicker shouldn't really be a problem. I know all the graphics need doing, they really are programmer graphics! There isn't actually any sound ATM, it still needs to be done.
