The Myths about Niches

The thread about BrainBlock leaving for greener pastures got me thinking about niches - and imagine my surprise when I saw this article today...

I particularly like the first couple paragraphs.

I agree about being open to "finding" your niche as you go along. But even though he proclaims it a myth that you need to have a niche when you start...he essentially states that you should have a niche in mind when you start. You just have to be flexible and open to oppurtunities that come up.

That blather at the end about "reputation" replacing "niche"...that's nonsense. The kind of reputation he's referring to would be meaningless outside the niche his company occuppies.

Overall, though, a decent article.
