So I got big indie dreams, one of them is to get my game on Yahoo! Games. Yahoo is probably one of the hardest portal to get into, and to me, it is equivalent to being accepted to Stanford or Harvard.

I've made Cactus Bruce and the Corporate Monkeys, and I pitched that game to the folks at Yahoo! since the conception of the title but with no luck.

And then this morning:

http://get.games.yahoo.com/home

They accepted Cactus Bruce version 2.3. It took 13 version changes, a help from a good friend, and over a period of 12 months to get them to turn their heads and say "Sure, we'll give it a try". Patience has finally pays off!

Just felt like sharing :)

I call this Revolution! Namely.
At least in my personal understanding how all these portals work nova days.

Great job Steve!!! Really great!!!
You will teach me later how you've managed to do this... ;)

Congratualtions and good luck!!!

Way to go, congrats!!!

Just out of curiosity, what were the changes they asked for?

Congratulations Steve :) It took Yahoo a good month of WWW sales to try BBB, which ended up selling even better. The portals aren't right 100% of the time :)

excellent !! it's nice to know that.. Anyway, if it's not in any violation of anything that you've signed, could you please tell us more about the process ?
It'll be a great story to learn from a startup indie like myself

Maybe I'm missing the obvious link on their page, but who do you contact re: getting your game on Yahoo?

Oh, and congrats! I hope your game does well - it certainly deserves too.

Congrats Steve!

As one of the only two indie games I own I consider Cactus Bruce and the Corporate Monkeys to be excellent (and I have tried a LOT of games for it to compete with). I wish you the greatest success!!! :D

And where is the V2.3 on your site? All I can see is the older V2.2 on your update page. I couldn't miss the latest additions to the game!

Nice. It's interesting to see that they were willing to work with you and give the game a try after all those mods.

From what I grabbed out of this experience, my ability to get Cactus Bruce on Yahoo has less to do with any one particular version, but the progressive updates and constant exposures to help put the title on the spotlight.

BTW, here is v2.3: http://www.blueteagames.com/CactusBruce.exe

Thanks for the positive comments =)

Wow, it's so motivating to read this, especially for a "Clicker" like me ;)
Best wishes!

I got a RealArcade email newsletter this morning, and one of the games is good ol' Cactus Bruce. Congrats, man!

San Diego peeps are really kicking some ass lately.
