A publisher was approached about a title and they came back saying that they could not publish the title because of *copyright issues*, I almost fell of my chair with laughter. The title was being compared to something that has been around for about 15 years and there are literally hundreds if not thousands of clones being sold. And guess what... this'll get ya... 90% of thier published portfolio consists of.... wait for it.... clones!

So 'cmon guys, just say you didn't like the title at least that way I'll still have some respect for you.

Ah, being turned down in such a manner has made my day. Thanks guys :D

Ok, that's rather ironic and silly. Ah well, move on. There seems to be a reasonable number of retail casual game publishers out there.

There is a big difference between a clone of a game and a game that contains copyright volitions. If your clone uses images similar to the images in the game you are cloning that that could be a problem. Another type of copyright violation would be using other images and intellectual property you do not own. For example, if you make a breakout game and put the face of Mickey Mouse on your level then you will have a copyright violation.

I agree James, thing is I'm not violating any copyrights and I own or have licences for all IP.

Hey, they're missing out; I only wanted them to Distribute the thing anyway.

Is this your lumines clone? I would probably be careful about distributing that too if I were a publisher of any high visibility particularly as it's a selling point of the psp.

Moving Slighty off topic: Are you telling me that people will buy a PSP to play Lumines?

I'd rather play Lumines than any other PS2 title horribly ported to the PSP.

Actually, yes. The games available for a platform are what drive the sales of the hardware - otherwise why would you buy it?
